Moving back after overtaking

Thanks to some new rubber on my drive axle I can pass most minus the Irish and SNT but if I’m overtaking and the other vehicle either speeds up to hold me out or we hit downhill stretch and they let it run over again to hold me out you can guarantee I’m coming in on top of them without an indicator.
If you’re going to be a twunt I’ll return the favour.

FFS that is the most ridiculous statement ever. Sorry M8 but you need your licence taking away.

+1

So because the truck speeds up going downhill you take that as “this guy is purposely not letting me in” or some kind of challenge? No, when it levels out or goes up hill they will go back to the speed they were at when your were overtaking. What do you gain by then cutting in close? Putting them in a position that if you slam on they can’t stop and smash in the back of you.

What a first class tool you are. That is all.

+1 on that people have gone to overtake me on the level then it drops downhill so i use the over speed then they have gone past me never had any irate drivers so far as a decent driver will understand what your up to

What’s the point in speeding up if you’re being overtaken?

On a motorway it adds hazard and on a dual carriageway it slows everyone else down and makes lorry drivers look like ■■■■■■■■■■

Your not purposely speeding up to be an idiot. Your just speeding up a little on the hill due to gravity and when it levels you will return to your original speed

There is no justification for cutting in short and changing lanes without indicating, wether provoked or not. Period.

Having said that, I have grown increasingly ■■■■■■ of with the increasing band of “non shall pass” ■■■■■■ who fall generally in two camps.
There is the architypal miserable ■■■■■ who can not abide being overtaken, and who will try to push his foot through the mat, in a pathetic attempt to avoid you overtaking him. These have been around since the advent of the limiter, when his limiter being set slightly lower than yours, robbed him of his manliness. … they do usually respond to your indicator going on, and you slowly moving over. They will relent, but let you know by copious light flashing and hand shaking…
The other camp, which has sharply increased in the last few years, are a more worrying type altogether. They are the ones that are not even aware that they are doing it. Adaptive cruise control on, the truck needs hardly any input, and the ‘driver’ starts to day dream, or worse, is engrossed in his phone/tablet/laptop… these don’t notice your indicator. Nor that you are moving over…

Thing is why do some object to you overtaking them at all?
I reckon a percentage of it is this childish attitude among many, ‘‘I aint letting a ■■■■ DAF pass my Scania’’ sort of thing…they’re like schoolkids or boy racers ffs. :unamused:
If a truck is passing me with difficulty, ok, fair enough many times it’s just crap judgement and planning on his part, but the world won’t end if I back off a click or two, wtf does it matter ?.. unless you are in full stress heart attack mode being pushed to the absolute limit without a second to spare. :unamused:

Leaving other trucks hanging, and cutting in, and driving dangerously to ‘‘teach others a lesson’’ :unamused: …Jeeez H,
some ‘‘drivers’’ should just take stock of themselves and ask if they are fit to be in charge of 44 tonnes.
Half of the sorry arsed pathetic specimens should only be allowed on one of these.

What determines the speed of a lorry?

Gravity?

or the Driver?

it’s common sense, at 1am in the morning, if a laden lorry wants to coast downhill at 60mph despite being overtaken, fair enough, the other guy will catch up again, and the laden lorry will back off a tad, flash the other chap over and all is well

3pm on the A34, you control your speed instead of stringing out the overtake.

Exactly so.
ACC PCC Free-Wheeling etc etc are all in the control of the driver. If a vehicle accelerates it is the driver who has responsibility for it.
Unfortunately the driving test doesnt take account of common sense, and too many employers dont seem to either.

Someone can’t control their inner chimp.
