What is the significance of the Movin’ On logo that appears on the front of trucks above the windscreen of various artics I thought at first that it was a company thing, but now I see it quite regularly, and it is on different firms and even different countries wagons.
The Movin On motif has been on the sunvisors of the (mostly) Mercedes fleet of the Irish international haulier nolantransport.com since the late 1970’s.
In the mid seventies, a TV series about the adventures of a pair of American Truckdrivers was shown here in the UK (and presumably Ireland as well!)
If you’re aged over 40 ish you may remember it:

also: timstvshowcase.com/movinon.html
even if you don’t remember the series, the lyrics of the themetune by Merle Haggard will strike a chord with all of us, even 30 years later.
Read them here:

I guess in more recent years the Movin’ On motif sums up the lifestyle of the longdistance lorrydriver no matter where they’re based or who they work for.
Wonderful link deesider.
Just for the Record… hahaha, record??.. get it??.. I have got the original LP of Movin’ On…by Merle Haggard
The album sounds brill, but never seen the show…
BUT… the link that Deesider posted with the lyrics??, well ,they are wrong…
The Edited (Correct words) are in red…LOL
…Jammin’ gears has got to be a fever,
'Cause men become addicted to the grind.
It takes a special breed to be a truck drivin’ man,
And a steady hand to Haul that load behind.
BTW, I’m a little tipsey, just come home from the pub… and Ive been on a BUS!!.. first time in ages!!..
I remember ‘Movin on’ the tv programe but how such a thing can compare to any truck that just sits at 56mph I don’t know
Who remember’s ‘BJ & The Bear’? That was a terrible series with a young truck driver & his pet chimp.
I do remember ‘Movin On’ though, good stuff.

Just remembered:
A livestock haulage firm from Bakewell, Derbyshire (D.L. Turner) had or has a variation of this on their sunvisors…
MOOVIN’ ON
This is absolutely true, I swear…No Bull
You may remember seeing their smart red trucks at various Truckshows in the past few years.
nolan transport.well a dirty word in ireland.paddy betz ring any bells
Ah yes - the slogan of Nolan Transport.
Mate of mine used to work for them. He still has the ‘Movin’ On’ baseball cap. Though I very much doubt he’d ever go back considering the tales he has told me about them.
I dare not reproduce them in an open forum…
If my memory serves me right Movin on has been on the front of Nolan Transport trucks since 1975 and pays homage to a former shop manager.
I’ve worked for Nolan Transport, i had a Daf xf, not the best Irish firm i’ve worked for and wouldn’t rush back, Carna Transport were better
so whats the reason for performer on the sunvisors of ivecos
