Motorway patrol cars

Do they have rear facing cameras that would capture your speed as you approach ( in car not truck) ta

Not seen one of these in years :open_mouth:

I think they do, definitely anpr capable…

The way the police can measure speed from a moving vehicle is using a time over distance calculation - pressing a button to mark when their car and the target passes the same start and end points. This is linked into the camera system so it is recording as evidence. The could spin the main camera round to face backwards to do this to a following vehicle.

The in car camera can’t automatically measure speeds by laser or other means, it has to be done by the police officer when they chose to target a vehicle.

Would they then need too pull you over ( made no attempt to follow us or pull us over ) ,or would you just get a nip through post

I find patrol cars are generally pretty lenient anyway. I was following one once in my evo and kept with him overtaking etc, when I pulled in to the garage to refuel they had stopped as well…came over to me and asked what my car was running as they were in to jap cars.
