Motorbike theory failed twice!

Does anyone have any decent advice anywhere on the hazard perception side of things I passed the questions both tests but can’t get pass the hazard perception. First test I only clicked once per hazard. The second time today I click event or 4 times but only scored 39 points. Winding me up because I’ve done cbt and one days big bike training but can’t advance until I’ve passed theory. I’ve bought a disc but it doesn’t really tell you how many times to click when to click or anything. I’m getting to the point where I’m thinking of giving up but I’ve already got a gsx 750f waiting to take me out. Cheers for any advice .

Not to be offensive but why ask on a trucknet site regarding motorbike.

All I can say regarding hazard perception is when you see the hazard click, then click a second afterwards.

Aren’t most tests set up for new learners instead of experienced drivers? From what I know, there is a window in which you score the points during the video clip. It’s possible you are spotting a hazard much earlier than expected and the scoring window hasn’t yet become active. Search online for tutorials and mock tests you can do to guide you.

You can practice on this site for free plus there’s a lot of useful information on it as well.

Keep at it we need more biker’s

If you cant spot an hazard, get rid of the gsx and buy å moped.

Go abroad & do it then come back & convert:)

It’s not hazards you click for, it’s developing hazards. They are quite blatantly obvious. But shoot your bolt (easy done with experience) and click before the score window opens and it’s nil points. Click once, then a second time a second later, will mean you should hit the score window with the second click, if you didn’t with the first. If you hit the score window with both, the first click score is what you get.

If you still can’t do it after the above, then it’s time to settle for a Yamaha Chappy.

Just took theory test 1 & got 48/50
Got no 16 wrong-Trams should stop (I don’t drive a tram)
& got 45 wrong-pedestrian in hi viz with a red light, apparently means an Organised walk (I thought it was a late night working lady)

The DVD is slightly different to the actual test, but as with everything in life, practice makes perfect. I always tell my pupils to do a theory and hazard perception test at the start of the day and then once or twice in the the evening; every day. When they consistently get 98-100%, then I agree to them doing the “proper” one.
And the previous advice is good, see the developing hazard, click, then when you are sure it’s a hazard, click again. But don’t click like crazy or you’ll be accused of cheating.
Hope this helps
Paul

PS, I struggled with the Hazard Perception as well, I’ve done the proper test three times in the last ten years for different classes of vehicle.

Treat it like a computer game and try to get 100% every time on the DVD. It really is set up for non-drivers so those of us with lots of road experience will struggle. Hopefully they’ve refined it a lot since I did my bike theory, apparently a lot of senior plod instructors failed it miserably when it first came out.

I did my motorcycle test a few years ago and i also got 100% in the questions but i just scraped by in the video part…

i thought it was based more on someone with no experience as i had been driving cars/trucks for about 15 years, i was seeing the hazards well before they developed so i pressed the button then and a few seconds later pushed it again incase i had pushed it too early, but if you push it too many times you fail that part

Spot on advice and completely true. The hazard perception test is a complete farce especially for experienced drivers.
The theory test is a waste of time as well.People learn the answers then as soon as they pass most of it is forgotten.
Bring back learning the highway code as very few seem to know the rules these days.Either that or they just blatantly ignore them.

Ah but they can’t charge you for the questions you used to get at the beginning/end of a practical test.

Complete load of ■■■■■■■■ that haz perc test. I am a driving god & computer game wizard & I found it tough to
Know when & how many times to click after my ban, load of bobbins.

Click when you see a potential hazard. Click again if this potential hazard develops into an actual hazard.

Practice makes perfect! I’ve been threatening to do it for a while but I never get round to it, sure I’d love it but you are very exposed on a bike.

Being exposed just gives you a sensible edge. I love to go out riding but I like to come back as well, so I can do it tomorrow as well. Read “Twist of the Wrist” by Keith Code. Brilliant advice, spot on, you’ll be doing crucifixes in no time :smiling_imp: Not on public highways of course :grimacing:

Hi there are practice tests online thats how i passed my hgv one heres one for you. 2pass.co.uk/mockhazardtest.htm#.U-8NnsVdUk0 hope it helps good luck.

Being a professional is your downfall, you will see things far earlier than a 17 year old and know what to look for. What you need to do is ignore the fact there is a pedestrian crossing sign as that isn’t expecting you to slow down, change direction or stop, its the pedestrian AT the crossing you need to click for. You wont get any points for clicking at the sign, the system won’t recognise it.

Good luck for the next time.
