One of there news items is saying Ferguson transport drivers are pleading to be furloughed
As they’ve been on a £25 day rate due to covid

Looks like its a stood down rate, bosses should have a duty of care to understand the furlough scheme or have someone with a brain explain it to them.
Thing is there’s no obligation to use the scheme, but why not? It’s not a loan, its a grant.
They’ve just had some employment law specialist on the radio saying that employers who fail to use it without justifiable reason are opening themselves up for future constructive dismissal claims.

Wait till firms put in to get paid this ‘grant’ n claims are rejected…
wait till 2 years from now the goverment finally sift through all the payouts and claims then come and take all the overpayments back from your bank accounts…

Exactly, because the firm has to lay it out with no guarantee of getting it back.
If your firm has already paid you furlough money it means they might actually give a stuff about you!

Yea I’ve asked my agency to put me on it but reading between the lines it looks like they want to see the Government’s money before they hand it over to me (which is perfectly reasonable, to be fair).
My guys I’ve furloughed are on their third week this week. Some firms haven’t got the money to pay their wages while they wait for the money back from hmrc so are laying off or getting rid. The portal to claim opens on 20th next Monday, should get the money back by the Monday after.
