To add this type of bs is why I prefer timing based racing not position racing .The fastest car or bike wins.

Targa Tasmania, Silver State Classic Challenge, Carrera Pan-American.

While ironically Le Mans was ruined by allowing F1 type thinking to infiltrate a time and distance, fastest car wins, based race.

If something is much faster than something else it will either get pole position in practice and then lead from the start.Or it will sandbag or have problems in practice, start from the back and then overtake the field ahead of it just once. Then leave it behind. That’s the object of Motorsport build something that dominates over it’s competition.

Continuous overtaking and being overtaken is just contrived artificially created bollox.Mean’t for the amusement of those who have actually wrecked motorsport with their escalating demands for balance of power rules and circuit speed controls.

Carryfast is actually Christian Horner and I claim my ÂŁ5.

I raced to beat everyone else. End of. Second is merely the first loser. If I could have beaten people at darts, pool, swimming or whatever I would have done, but apparently my gift was going fast and I made a living at it.

It is possible to overthink things. Being first is all that counts.

Carryfast is actually…nah, I don’t fancy premod.

The topic is about the definition of Motorsport. Not what you think about me not that I’d give a zb what you think.

Mand and machine against the clock. The emphasis on the machine. The fact that the driver can drive is a given don’t know or care who.

Not artificially created speed variations and equally artificial overtakes, for artificial position, to make the driver the pointless star not the car.

The problem being that racing for position, as opposed to against the clock, just opens up the can of worms of numerous types of blocking moves and competitors whining that someone has a more powerful machine than someone else. When the whole bleedin thing is supposed to be all about the car or the bike not the driver or the rider.

Hill climbs and sprints etc and the TT for bikes are way more interesting than a bunch of circuit race prima donnas thinking that it’s all about them trying to block and carve each other out of contention or off the circuit in that delusion.

Wasn’t it Rossi who said that the TT is too scary for him ?.

Can’t agree, sorry. There’s nothing more satisfying than beating someone who is on superior machinery. You simply can’t buy that sort of satisfaction.

Short and to the point from a man who’s been there, done that. As opposed to the waffle of a nobody who couldn’t compete.

Yes it was. But I think he was referring more to the furniture.. brick walls and lamp posts rather than the time trial format.

Translates as riding or driving a slow piece of junk. But which can win a race against superior machinery so long as it’s ridden or driven by someone who can’t ride or drive it and/or it’s handicapped by a weight or power restriction and/or the circuit is subject to speed limiting methods which just means that more power means burn’t out brakes and/or wrecked transmission.
Or the rider or driver can’t be bothered to end a race in the barriers because of blocking moves by slow crap ahead of him.

The worst thing about it is when that F1 type of bs has now been applied to Le Mans. But luckily Moto GP type crap hasn’t been able to pollute the TT ….. .yet.

If it ain’t formula libre, racing against the clock, not for an artificially created position on the road, then it ain’t racing.
Define continuous back and forth overtaking in that regard. It just means continuous compromising of lap times by all concerned to artificially create that bollox.
