Apologies if done the rounds before but don’t recall it.
Well this bloke has I guess bought a camper van without an MOT. The MOT is designed to keep unroadworthy vehicles off the road and this bloke isn’t some sort of maverick who’ll risk driving something on the roads without an MOT so the only legal thing to do is tow it home…
I believe it’s legal to tow for “recovering a disabled vehicle” - a bit more than just “to get to a place of safety”, but not general A-B transport. For general transport, it’s classed as a trailer over 750 kg, and is therefore required to have working brakes on all axles. The camper’s rear wheels won’t be braked, and therefore it’s not legal unless you’re recovering it because it’s disabled.
A mile further on (previous caravan ban sign at last chance to turn off the A170…) I was surprised to see this marked up as a 25% gradient putting it on a par with Porlock Hill, Exmoor.
