Hi everyone
For the MoT, must you have a buzzer for low air pressure? The red light works…
Thanks
Paul
if i remember right you dont need a buzzer to work only the light i was told you can drive a truck n be deaf so you would be able to se the light …but you could drive a truck and be blind …though judging by some of todays driving standards thats debatable lol
Wouldn’t think so as my 11 plate Renault doesn’t have a buzzer. Neither did my old Stralis or my Actros before that.
Mine hasn’t got a buzzer.
You just need a means of knowing its low ie buzzer light or gauge if its a gauge it must illuminate
Needs a light, or a buzzer if no light. I had to replace the dash on an Atego (£700) because the light/buzzer didnt work
Construction & Use regulations state you can have a buzzer only, if the driver is registered blind.
there are gauges, lights and buzzers, from what the VOSA man told me, you need any two from three
if you have gauges (which most trucks have got as standard), you only need a light OR a buzzer, it is not mandatory to have both
my DAF has gone through the last 2 MoT’s with no buzzer, as it has the gauges and the lamps
While asking MOT questions, is it mandatory for a light to come on while park brake is on?
I took an Iveco rigid out the other day (lucky me) which had no light for park brake, no light or buzzer for low air though gauge worked. I thought the exhaust brake pedal also normally puts a light on too, but nothing doing there either. Yet it recently passed an MOT
( indicators produced a light AND a a buzzer at an irritating high frequency! )
Thank you everyone, no buzzer, one less thing to sort out
Cheers
Paul
The old C&U rules used to mention a light, buzzer or flag

Oh yeah - I remember seeing flags rise in front of the windscreen on the old MAN buses…
Does there need to be an audible ‘click’ sound for indicators?

No a flashing light will do but it must be different from the hazards one so you can tell which one is which

It’s not part of the annual test for handbrake light gauges ok for air and exhaust brake in cab not part of the test but I believe exhaust brake comes into the test on Wednesday but only visible inspection so as long as all the bits are on it will pass
Thanks davhems
No you dont need a buzzer for anything, you might get a deaf driver
but never a blind one.
Allegedly!"!!!

How do you do a “visible” inspection for an exhaust brake?
Most dont use the old flap valve anymore and the compressed air feeds are all under the cab.Cant see no test station man working up a sweat to jack up a cab and would they know what they were looking for anyway?
