Most ridiculous thing you have heard?

This reminds me, I was talking to an agency driver in an rdc waiting room just last week who was telling me about the newest vosa ploy to get money off us :astonished: so from next year on the gantrys on the m25 will be able to remotely download the tachos of hgvs as they pass under and then a fine will be sent to the vehicle owner for any infringement(s)  how stupid are some people!!

I’ve herd this done in Germany by police driving next to the lorry.

Maybe but it would take at least a couple of minutes to download so they would be doing well to download anything off it as you pass under at 50+mph!

Actually remote downloads are possible now, and may well be on the cards sooner rather than later if legislated for- fact is sometimes stranger than fiction

Chatting to a bloke in Whitwood truck stop, he was having a 45 off and then setting off for China across land. It would take him 6 weeks. Might be true but somehow I doubted it.

He should save a few days nipping down the road of bones, then taking the China ferry at Magadan. Or flat to the mat down the trans-Siberian highway.

Trans-sibera then down across/through Mongolia is probably the best way. Only need 3 visas (Russia, Mongolia, China) and you can say you’ve been to Ulaanbataar. Don’t think many people can top that.

Been to Clacton, and that was bad enough !!

You would get as far as Almaty- after that your into the Sino/Russia militarised zone and would not get a permit to go any further, its been done to Almaty from the UK where you drop the trailers for locals to take across the border to China

how about this then? …being an international trucker for over forty years ive been about everywhere you can reasonably drive to in uk,europe and the middle east, once several years ago i even helped a food aid organisation delivering urgent supplies and medical equipment to a far flung region of outer mongolia where the resident inhabitants were suffering badly due to long term side effects from radiation poisoning due to previous nuclear testing by the russians several years previously.
they were a miserable pathetic tribe with no belongings ,wearing rags for clothes, living in total destitution and squalor, most had open wounds and sores with pus dripping freely ,deformed and malnutritioned, the old and infirm were killed off as they were a burden to the main tribe, and it was a well known fact that on more than one occasion babies were killed and eaten in the winter months as otherwise the entire tribe would have starved.
i was made reasonably welcome by these people and at length through an interpreter i had several conversations to enlighten me as to just how these people survived in total deprevation.as i sat one evening with the head tribesman and the interpretor,he asked me from where i had travelled to reach them…i told him, belfast,to which his reply was…belfast■■?..what a poxhole of a place is that !!! :open_mouth:

Wow! Retrospective radiation poisoning, that is serious.

Drivers talking sense in a RDC waiting room.

You MUST carry 3 spare tacho printer rolls ! :unamused: :grimacing:

THE SPEED LIMIT IS A LIMIT AND NOT A TARGET
if you were to drive at 40 mph on a single carriageway in you test when you should be doing 50 not only will the examiner fail you,you will be laughed out of the test centre and yet I see so many so called fellow professional drivers claiming they know better

This thread?

I heard to counteract this all you need to do is line out the complete cab with lead and have a couple of CD’s in the windscreen (behind the lead)

I saw a transit tipper doing similar yesterday. He wasn’t using lead but stainless steel sinks, bicycle frames etc filled the load area. I didn’t think transits needed tachos?

RE; SPEED LIMIT.

Depends on the conditions Chief. If its icy or ■■■■■■■ down etc, 40 in a 50 may be deemed by an examiner to be too fast FOR THE CONDITIONS AT THAT TIME.

That is a convenient out of context argument to fit your point.
So you use it as a target do you at all times?
Do you live up to your username?

Have a read of eagerbeavers post, and stop talking crap mate. :unamused:

It’s illegal to have 9 off at base :unamused:

I used to work for a recovery Co and was the only person there from the boss down who had any idea of tacho regs so regularly used that excuse when it suited. Also “nah, it’s the third Friday in the month so the tacho regs say I must have a minimum 17 hour break between shifts now!”

robroy:

tipperlad:
When I first started driving I was told by an old timer that any reversing time doesn’t show on your tacho as your not going forwards!!

You know what mate, either that is familiar because it was true, or I have dreamt it.
I seem to remember but can’t be sure, that when tachos first came out reversing did not show up on the card as movement. So if you were on a break, and had to reverse to say, move out of the way or something, the break appeared on the chart to be uninterrupted.
However it may be senility starting to kick in.

Their maybe some truth in it after all then?

“The load bonus scheme is legal.”

it is if you call it a productivity bonus!

Anything that comes out of a CPC trainers mouth…is it just me or have all of them done everything, seen everything and got a story about someone who’s done it!
