Im in need of a new satnav and think buying an old tomtom and either mucking around with it myself and trying to get the truck software onto an SD card and loading it onto the device myself may be the cheapest way, I cant see myself doing that though so thinking a 2nd hand tomtom with the truck sd card already loaded would be my best bet.
Am I right in thinking that its only the 7■■ 8■■ and 9■■ that you can load the truck maps/software on or are there other models? Does anyone know the difference between those models and which is best to get?
I need to get one ordered asap really…
Cheers
I got inspired earlier and bought a 2nd hand TT GO910 only to realise too late that there is no SD slot on that model, so am trying to discover if it is possible to transfer navcore by USB link. So don’t make the mistake I made! Have a feeling I have just purchased a paperweight.
To reply to myself - it seems it is possible to “upgrade” a 910 and the guys on the navitotal forum have been very helpful.

Sorry I never saw your post earlier.
As you now know it is indeed possible to put the truck navcore and map on a Go 910, in fact a 910 was the first sat-nav I put the truck map on and it worked well, not as quick as the 730 I now use but it was still more than satisfactory and I used it for a couple of years:wink:

I’m not sure but I think I’ve read that the 5■■ models can also be converted, but don’t take my work for it, search the Tomtom section at navitotal.com and you’ll see what works well and what doesn’t
go 520 530 work best in that range
Best way to describe it is:
x10, x20, x30, x40, x50’s can all be done - x = 5, 7 or 9.
Now, the best are the x20 or x30. Followed by the x40. The x50 can be a pain and the x10’s are a little slow and lacking RAM.
It’s easily done, and there’s lots of help on the net and forums… try a site with the word navi for navigation and total in it
I use a 540 currently with a 520 as my back up, but have done every other combination for friends.

Doesn’t require an SD card due to the internal memory being big enough - so can be done quite easily.
