That’s starting of well…

I think that DHL run it, it’s the most efficient of all the Morrisons depots that I’ve been to.

Correct on both counts. Also a proper marshaling area to wait for your booking time, rather than having to wait outside on double yellows.

I did a few shifts for them via agency back in 2012 when I was moving.

It was DHL. You could only get taken on after doing a spell there with ADR Network. Very easy work. DAF CF autos. Not pushed at all, phone never rang. Always asked how much time you had left before you were given a second trip. Usual big company red tape. I mentioned a radio not working once and they VOR’d the unit until one was fitted! Probably OK if you get on with DHL, if you like that sort of thing. Usual agency nonsense otherwise. Work 1 day miss 2 etc.

Unless they are advertising direct, shifts will be whatever the agency has to cover. Usual ADR Network pay-rate, google their website. The rates quoted are usually for Umbrella/Ltd.

Is the burger van still there?

Hi Mr Nick

I used to work there. The site is run by DHL.

Wage rates are very complicated, but basic day is about £10.20 an hour, you get a bit more for the unsociable hours but not much. Guaranteed 44 hours pay which is based over a week, so they can hammer you for the hours on a Sunday (their working week starts Sundays), Monday and Tuesday and then give you low hours the rest of the week to try and avoid giving you any overtime.

Job is easy peasy, you don’t help load or unload, which is good or bad depending on your outlook on life! Your exercise for the day will be when have to pull the curtain back and arrange side protection boards when you collect beer from Magor.

Shifts are based on 5 day week but split in an amazingly complicated way which means 4 weekends work out of 6, a pattern which might mean 4 on - 2 off, then 3 on - 2 off, 5 on - 2 off, or the dreaded 5 on - 1 off - 5 on.

Units are the most basic imaginable, noisy and devoid of any character, no manual override. On site workshop open 24hrs.

At one point the ratio of perm to agency drivers was 40:60, so I suspect one could walk into a job there tomorrow (unless they have massively turned things around in the last year). This tells you all you need to know about working there.

It’s lots of small things which make it crap, but lots of little things build up. I have barely scratched the surface, but don’t want to bore you, too much anyway! There are good points…, it offers good job security.

If you can switch your brain off at the start of your working day, then ‘your friend’ may find his nirvana.

Na not for me I’ve just moved into Bold Blokes old place and yes it was a rather good pay rise from running the bread van.
The chap who asked me asked because we go there but also knew I’m on a forum, unfortunately he’s not so good with computers, it was only last year he updated his phone to a smart phone , he still don’t know how to use it fully :unamused: but he’s a good bloke.
