More roadworks misery

So that will be about a quarter of the M62 ■■■■■■ up with yet more disruption. Probably quicker to take the A roads soon!

‘‘In a two-month £1.2million Highways Agency project a length of the steel central reservation barrier between junctions 24 and 25 of the M62 motorway will be replaced with a concrete barrier.’’

Whats the point :unamused: And how does it cost 1.2million to replace 4 miles of barrier, whats the concrete made out of gold :unamused:

Concrete is better, the nobs have a harder job getting through!!

Still dont stop the tossers driving wrong way down the m62

Yeah, did m62 twice in rush hour last week, totally ridiculous, I’d go postal if I had to do it everyday. On a side note, you wouldn’t mine paying a toll at the Dartford crossing if there was no q, when are they going to build another bridge, place is totally unusable on a Friday afternoon.

At least they shouldn’t have to shut lanes every night to repair the barrier that the daft foookers can’t help hitting :unamused:

In my opinion the M62 is the worst motorway in the country. Tail backs as far as the eye can see from junctions 30-25 at most times of the day and generally just full of people who can’t drive. Don’t do the M25 that often but on the occasions I have it still isn’t as bad as the 62.

Yeah, but some of the views are great and I’m paid by the hour. I think it’s the best motorway in the country.

I hope this helps.

The 62 is far, far worse than the m25.

M25 with the 4 lanes ain’t too bad now.

Not one of them managed motorways work whatsoever and the M62 by Leeds when it opens properly will be no different. Whoever is bringing these idea’s in needs smacking. They are a joke. People don’t use the hard shoulder (truckers included) when it’s open. People don’t know where slip roads start or stop at anytime and worst of all is that you now get people (only ever seen cars) driving down the hard shoulder when it’s not in operation. They need to take away the hard shoulder completely if they are having speed signs above each lane and only close that lane in the event of a breakdown. Signs should be there to say use the inside lane in the event of a breakdown. That way all lanes will be open at all times, people will know where the slip roads are, truckers and car drivers wont be driving down the 2nd lane and not moving over and most of all there wont be people driving down a lane that is closed. If the hard shoulder is not in use then the signs are just off on the m6 through brum, thats when you get people driving on the shoulder. Yet on the 42 they put a big red cross when the shoulder is not in operation. No wonder people are confused.

Funny that Kerbdog I was watching the cameras today on the M6 Birmingham & everyone & his dog was using it when it was open.

Anyway how far behind are you  ? Managed motorways 2 ‘All lane running’ is already in progress, permanent h/s running with fewer gantries, fewer cameras & fewer refuge areas :grimacing:.

Look forward to it, You may not think mm are any good but they get a higher vehicle throughput overall.

Wasnt this section a 50mph zone not so long ago when they were replacing all the lighting? Why not sort the crash barrier out then?

FFS, who is in charge of planning these roadworks? Its laughable.

Trouble is,

1: all the ■■■■ collects in the hard shoulder making punctures much more likely, which is one reason why I personally don’t like driving in them.

2: in the truck when it is busy the last thing you want to do is try and squeeze in and out of the hs every time you get to a junction, hard enough job staying static in lane 1 will all the idiot dive bomb que jumpers around you as it is.

All IMHO.

You shouldn’t be driving in the hard shoulder, that’s how accidents happen.

I hope this helps.

I agree with you and not long before that they replaced the barriers from Rothwell jnc 30 to Brighouse jnc 25 with concrete barriers, why didn’t they do it then when they had all the equipment and men to keep going up to jnc24. Not to worry, when it’s all finally finished it will probably need digging up again to keep someone in a job FFS .

I think you can say that about most major motorways across the UK. M1, M25, M6 near cities, M5 near cities and interchanges, M62. Then you’ve got the roadworks and, of course, the cars.

As a truck driver I was being criticised by someone in an argument about congestion and how trucks cause it all. I pointed out there are 500,000 trucks on UK roads of HGV size and 18 million cars, which kinda shut them up. I also told him how many deliveries his local tesco store had in one day to keep it running, which having delivered to it recently knew, and that shut him up to the point he changed the subject.

Result!

I think it was about 25 a day for an ‘extra’ store with double that over Christmas…

You have to remember electrical compaines do not normally do concrete and visa versa. when these companies tender for the work it can take longer or shorter depending on the type of work being carried out etc.

Saratoga for the debating win. I take your point about Friday afternoons everywhere, did Tilbury to Birmingham yesterday evening, Kin traffic jam all the way. Almost gave up a couple of times for a voluntary night out.
