Work to improve the road surface on the eastbound carriageway of the M62 at junction 24, Ainley Top, will take place next week.

The Highways Agency will be resurfacing the eastbound entry slip road and sections of the main eastbound carriageway, between September 23 and 27, overnight from 8pm to 6am. When the work is completed it will improve safety on the slip road.

In order to carry out the work it will be necessary to close the M62 junction 24 eastbound entry slip road overnight. A clearly signed diversion route will be in place directing drivers to junction 25 at Brighouse.

There will also be periods where the M62 eastbound carriageway will need to be closed between the exit and entry slip roads at junction 24. Traffic will be diverted over the junction via the exit and entry slip roads.

Highways Agency project manager, Alan Apps, said: “This work will provide an improved road surface for drivers. For the safety of road users and road workers we encourage all drivers to drive carefully along the diversion routes, keeping within the speed limit and concentrating on the road ahead.”
