More possible disruption in Doncaster

This morning part of the new Frenchgate Interchange (northbound) tunnel which was having the finishing touches put to it prior to opening soon has collapsed. :open_mouth:

The railway station side of the construction was fully linked across Trafford Way to the Frenchgate shopping centre at the first floor level, however, that is now not the case.

So (according to a local radio station) be preparing for a possible urgent closure of Trafford Way in both directions, the main route through the town, for safety checks on the southbound tunnel.

Any updates will be put on the Frenchgate Interchange’s Website.

I’ll be going through Doncaster on Friday morning so will avoid the area (Just like I have been doing for the last 18 months!!!)

what is it with the British construction workers and tunnels, we just cannot build them, They have had more problems around the country in recent years than anywhere.

In hull 10 years ago they tried to cross the river Hull near bransholme and after spending millions they filled it in and built a bridge. The tunnels for the sewers collapsed and they lost 2 boring machines :unamused:

In Germany and Holland they pop in tunnels everywhere, and hardly ever have problems. Even our offices were built underground and most private homes have a basement and underground garage

It’s not even a tunnel come to think of it.

It’s only really a bridge with a car park and some shops on top of it. They haven’t even dug any road out to build the ■■■■ thing.

If you ask me, there was nothing wrong with the old bus station and multi storey car park that was demolished to make way for it.
