Money box

Another way to hit us all in the pocket.

I’m not going into the in and out’s of these well intentioned but, hopelessly inadequate devices. Suffice to say, when ever I’ve been stuck right across one, it was because some cloth head has got in front of me and left me ‘boxed in’ so to speak. It is nigh on impossible for us not to fall foul of these things.

If they do this to the Dartford Tunnel junction 1a roundabouts, they’ll be able to pay the nations debt inside of a week.

Very difficult with a lorry not to get caught in one of these things every now and again.
The space for you to fit the other side of the junction might be clear, but given the attitudes of city dwellers by the time you’ve got there two cars or vans might well have shot past and forced in front of you leaving you exposed.

Thankfully i don’t use too many of the things, but the rare times it causes me to get stuck on one if i remember i’m going to press the ‘‘keep’’ button on the (external only :sunglasses: ) camera system locking the footage, that footage might just win an appeal if your exit space gets stolen.

I’ve never been caught in one of these scams, touch wood, but I wonder about the evidence they produce to prove their claims. If it’s a still picture is there a speed reading showing zero mph?

To properly prove stopping I would have thought they would need moving video of you stationary, else you could claim you were crawling very slowly along. If those wheels ate turning, no matter how slowly, then you aren’t stopped in their trap!

A box junction offence is not committed by stopping within the box (although that’s what triggers the cameras) but by entering the junction when your exit is not clear. These sites normally have constant video recording, which will show what the situation was when you entered (as well as when you stopped). Although they should be checking the footage for each alleged offence, it often takes a challenge to get them to check it properly…

Never been done in one.
I’d like to think there covered by cameras and the operative uses discretion.
As many times been sat at a green light can see not quite enough space for me. And easy one impatient driver.nehind you who undertakes and pulls into space you was waiting for
.

But it’s obvious with covid the motorist will bear the brunt of paying back all the debt.
Was a thread on here saying London bus routes are going 24 7 with fines being imposed

Rumours there going to put fuel duty up 5p . No doubt car tax will rise as well

Oh yes the motorist is going to get fleeced.

Apparently a Grauniad article (i don’t read it or any other mainstream source) suggests us mere mortals, ie those pesky unwanted unless cannon fodder required working class, still stubbornly driving internal combustion cars in order to get to work for a living, almost all unable to afford £30,000+ electric cars, should subsidise the well heeled who have bought into electric cars.
As is always the case, socialists eager to display their virtue and ecological (even if it isn’t) credentials want others to pay for their glory.
