Moffett

Do you need a fork lift truck license in order to do moffett training or can moffett be done on its own?

Any recommendations where I can do this in the west midlands?

Can be done on its own.

You don’t need any previous qualification for Moffett training but a respected course for a complete novice should be a full 5 days. If you have proven previous experience on forklifts then you might get away with a 1 day course.

Ideally, you need to be confidant enough with a forklift that all you really need training on is how to get the buggers on & off the truck.

Like with HIAB’s, work becomes sooo much easier to find if you’re competant, but all that dissappears if you one of the many ‘knuckledraggerz’ who should never be let near such equipment.

The one i did was a few hours at most, most of which had nothing to do with trying out the moffett. There were a few of us on the course too.

However we didn’t get any decent training and turns out you can do yourself or things your carrying a lot of damage if you get it wrong (much easier than with a forklift).

Training can be very expensive and rare, but best way is to get in with a company who use them. Its very unlikely any company will take on a non experienced user and if they have other users, you can double man which is highly recommended.

According to the guy training us, forklift drivers have problems as the controls are backwards and they tip over very easily unlike forklifts.
