Moffett Lights

Question raised in work by a fellow driver after we dropped our trucks off at service tonight. He Moffett lights double up as his rear truck lights (breaks, indicators, reverse) now he mentioned that his right side lights where working but the cover was being held on by celotape.

People at the service place it wasnt for them to do as they where doing this truck as a favour (should have went to DAF NW last week)

We have a guy come in regular to the yard and do the odd fix here and there so my friend ask him to which he replied its not for him to do.

DAF NW are apparently going to charge to much for it to get fixed.

My Friend was wanting to know where he stands if the Ministry pull him over and they point it out. Is it illegal? legal? he’s been defecting it for weeks but still goes out everyday with it.

TL;DR - Friends Moffett lights are held on by tape - legal or not?

The driver will be the one in the ■■■ if he gets pulled.
Driver needs to grow a pair and refuse to take it out until its fixed.

If the lense is intact, and the repair is nice and tidy, then there is nothing wrong with it. I had a truck that went through 3 MOTs with a lense taped on. The halfwit(me) who put it on accidentally stepped on it and broke off the 2 locator/screw holes. Taped it on a treat and you would never know. Until someone put a fork through the whole light cluster!

That being said, if it leaks and lets water in, it can cause many more problems than just a blown bulb, rotting the whole inner gubbins of the lamp. So if the company has any sense they would get it fixed at a convenient time.

Your mate is defecting it, so has covered his own arse, and if that bulb stops working the wheels don’t turn. End of.

I can ask in work tomorrow as our place have recently started servicing moffets and the like for brit European

thanks for all the replies folks
