completley different to counter balance
hard to find training companies that cater for moffets just renewed mine at a cost of £350 pound
bugger to get back on the vehicle if u dont know the tricks
They are very much like a 3 wheeled counter balance.
But as already stated it is a differant ticket to operate.
Mainly because a normal counter balance lowers the forks on gravity only.
A Moffatt lowers the forks under power …
So when stowing a Moffatt on a truck you drive the forks into the chassis of the truck or the fork slots .
Then use the lower lever which lifts the moffat into the stowage position.
If you have a counterbalnce or any other fork lift ticket it’s a 1 day conversion course with a test to obtain the ticket to drive.

Renewed for £350 ■■? Very expensive
Most traning companies do not have a moffatt on thier sites they tend to train on the customers site on the customers own moffatt…
A refresher should only be 1 day.
And it is only a recommedation that you do a refresher every 3 years ( Not Required )
Some companies do refreshers to keep thier insurance companies happy

Some training companies put an expiry date on the tickets ( they need a good slap… on the course they should explain the 3 year recomendation. And the reasons for this …
That comes from the fork lift instructors bible issued by the Healt n safety executive .
It may change in the future… who knows
Who told you to renew them and what acreditation whas the training done with… as a couple of the accredited bodies want a refresher done at certain time intervals ( easy money )

and some training type chap who was testing one of the chaps on the fork lift
i just had to renew my forklift ticket, the training centre said its now a 5 day course, surely not i thought as i have had a ticket before and got experience, instructor got me on it and said oh yeah you will be fine, passed me without doing the test but the best bit was the training video i had to watch with some of novices, it was from the 70s and in german with no subtitles but in the instructor did say you’ll get the gist of it, im glad it was not me paying for a 5 day course…
I used to drive one like this, does that make me a professional?
as a footnote to all of that. the jcp website are advertising for moffet rigid drivers paying twelve squid an hour in the london area. just incase any body might have been interested
