I have been driving trucks on and off since 2009, C+E and I have fitted into the excemption bracket so never done my Module 2 and 4.
I done my theory test in 2009 and not looked at the book nor DVD since then.
I decided it was time to crack the module 2 and 4.
So I booked the Module 2 on line.
I searched the internet for help and advice on the test but there seems to be a lack of information and questions that will be asked.
There seems to be alot of people in the same boat as me looking for advice on the module 2.
Well just to let people know the test is quite straight forward and I found 90-95% of the questions to be general knowledge and nothing at all todo with HGVs.
Is it just me or does anybody else feels this is a waste of 30 quid?
I dont see the benifit in doing a CPC test that is easier than doing the actual theory test.
CPC is 50 easy questions and the theory is 100.
Whats other people views and thoughts on the initial cpc module 2?
It’s just another stage in the licence acquisition process which, for a number of years has been getting increasingly complicated/expensive/time consuming.
There are far more ‘opportunities’ to fail for new drivers’ - meaning more retest fees than there were when I did HGV/PSV in 1991.
I wonder how many older drivers would do their test nowadays - having to jump through all the hoops??
I don’t know if I would, or if I could afford to!!!
It’s a nightmare for a young driver to get to C + E.
Don’t forget jamie5116 - as soon as you’ve done Modules 2 & 4 you will be issued with your DCPC DQC, which is valid for 5 years. During that 5 year validity you must also complete 35 hours of approved DCPC Periodic Training.
Good luck - there aint many youngsters doing what you are!!!
How can you book the module 2 test if you already have acquired rights■■?
You either have acquired rights and need to do 35hrs DCPC by September next year… Or you have been driving illegally since 2009 and should have done module 2 + 4 when you passed… Or I have read it wrong and you have been exempt due to being Military/Firefighter/other exemptions which I can’t think of and not driving for a haulier.

If you got your very first LGV category on your licence be it LGV C1 or C after 09/09/2009 and the system has allowed you to book initial dcpc module 2 then you have been driving illegally for the past 4+ years because I cannot think of an exemption which would allow you to drive a CE - maybe you can inform us of the exemption please?

Hello Daz
If I done my test at the back end of 2009 and did not completed module 2 and 4.
Will my initial DQC be dated from the date of passing my C+E or the date I completed module 4?
Like I said in my last comment ignore me I’m an idiot!
I found the test easy (although I did revise for it and there is a book for it), I also found the theory test easy but I revised heavily for that too (only have yourself to blame for failing a theory test). I did find the questions were asking different thing though, the theory was more driving related and the Module 2 is more job related. It taugh me some stuff although I learned more off module 4, not done any DCPC hours yet though so can’t tell you what that is like.
I imagine DCPC hours is like teaching ya gran to ■■■■ eggs but more patronising.

Jamie…simply 5 years from issue date of Driver Qualification Card - in new drivers’ case - like yourself…5 years from passing Mod. 4 (regardless when you passed C+E), that’s when the 5 year clock starts ticking for Periodic Training!!! So, when you’ve passed Mod. 4 DQC will land on door mat with issue date (Mod.4 pass date) & Expiry date on reverse (5 years on).

I done my theory test for my hgv in july 2009 then done my prac in nov 2009.
So I didnt qualify for aquired rights to initial DQC.
The exemption bracket is HM forces.
I am not going to come on a forum and make a load lies up.
Anyways back to my point does anyone else that’s done this initial cpc test find the module 2 a waste of time as its easier that the theory test?
Jamie
i have just done mine in august to be honest the mod 2 is the hardest, well was for me as a new driver. it is all scenarios and different situations but if your an experienced driver you should be ok. it is tare weights and gross weights, bob puts so much on and drops some of bla bla but don’t rush the test it has a high fail rate at the test center, I no 3 out of 3 that failed and had to buy the heavy goods vehicle book from wh smiths.
