Nice idea but the same problem can’t get enough photos :frowning: .I think I’m going to do caffrey keenan or eastwest

That looks really good Will88 top job on the trailer, and I know the Scania can be a bit tricky in places as well.
You got there in the end Jim I bet you glad you didn’t cover the origional decals in half a dozen layers of clear.
Gaydon soon !!!

In actual fact Jeff i did !! I used Humbrol Matt laquer on the tilt, but you see the only letters that had to be changed were the I & E so as the new E was gonna cover the old I and the the new I was going over the E the only letter to paint out was the E which I did then stuck the EI over relaquerd the whole side and re weatherd … Happy days !! Does that make sense to you ■■ Thought it was gonna be a pain but I fact it was all done in about an hour !!

Regards Jim

That’s Mensa grade thinking there Jim…

Does anyone now if I would be able to make this from a standard kit

Hi,

Italeri produce a Scania 143 Topline kit, but it is a 6x2 tag axle. It can easily be converted with aftermarket springs and you will need the correct tanks and battery/air tank pack and RHD dash, which are readily available from KFS or M and G.

I think I would use the italeri Scania 143 wrecker and convert it to 4x2 and for the trailer I’d use italeri 3813 reefer
Good luck.

Would this be hard to do for a beginner and could I just use the streamline kit for the chassis

Never thought of that sounds the cheapest way would that be hard to do

I don’t konw your model building history and from what you have posted here, I would say your not very experianced and ther’s nothing wrong with that. None of use sprung out of our mother woumb with an indepth knowlage of how to build model trucks.

So as a first timer and novis builder you could get an Itareri Scania 143 kit #764, and as Jim said fridge trailer kit # 3813 build them both out the box with no modifications, the paint doesn’t have to be spot on, as long as you have the red, black and white in the right places you’ll be fine. There are loads of people about that can do the decals for the sign writing and be very happy with the results.
Some people get really into building their models and are very pedantic about even the smallest details, and thats’fine if you like that sort of thing I wouldn’t even bother converting the wheel base as you are only talking about a few millimeters, and after a few weeks of sitting in your pride of place you probably wouldn’t notice it’s got springs instrad of air bags or if it’s a left ■■■■■■ either.
Have a cruise round you local model shops and see if you can come up with something if not you’ll get it on ebay. Bang in 1/24 Scania, there’s always some thing close.
I’ve just had a look and there’s a guy in south Korea that I bought from before has 143 streemliner kit #764 for 35 quid and can deliver it before 29 of May. If you leave the side skirts of it’ll be close to what your after, it’s a fairly easy kit to put together.

You should probably put a couple of kits together before you try modifications and conversions.

The main thing to remember it it’s a fun hobby, not something you should lie awake at night worrying about. You’ll probably make a few mistakes along the way but after you’ve done a couple of kits you’ll get the idea.

When you paint the cab leave the front pannel of, paint the cab red and the front pannel white with the black, and then stick the front pannel on.

Instead of the pallet rack with side guards on the trailer you can use the pallet rack that often comes with the kit. Or build your own side guards from Evergreen channel # 265 which is available from most model shops. Side guards would probably take about 5 minutes to make each side.

If you have any problems, just ask, either on Truck Model World Forum or on this thread.

Jeff…

thanks for that Jeff but it isn’t a streamline. I was trying to see if stateline have streamlines but no luck I’m just wondering if you can put a normal 143 cab on the streamline classes

One thing that Italeri did was make a lot of Scania models, have a look at a 143 kit, #792 it’ s got the cab your after but it’s a tag . You could use the 792 cab on the 729 chasssis, they re interchangable, and later on you can build a streemliner tag.

Do you mean I can use a streamline chassis

Yes just leave the side and rear skirts of and use the front bumper, a pair of wings, and lights form the other kit.
