MODEL TRUCKS

Here’s another one… I used to build them as I remembered them, dirty and well used…

Jeff…

How do you get the models to look dirty like that,if you are a bit heavy handed all the hard works ruined ,id be scared to death

Just started to scratchbuild a COMMER QX fire engine it is based on one that was fitted with MILES bodywork and would be from the fifties. I don’t make a habbit of building fire engines but have done another two previously all scratchbuilds except for the wheels. Eddie.

For the lovers of ex army lorries. This scrap Dinky Brockway bridge layer was scratchbuilt into a Dutch White with trailer of RSK.

Yep…

Jeff…

Aye Seth I have never been brave enough to try this weathering either I don’t ever feel happy when I use an airbrush in fact I just don’t look forward to the painting of any of the models. I could do with Jeff being my next door neighbour I could keep him busy. Eddie.

Eddie, your scratch building is coming along nicely, that Dodge looks the part, as does that cut and shut Scania. I also like that bridge layer conversion that Mandator did…
Next time you down this way bring some models along and I’ll weather them for you…
Jeff…

Aye there wasny much cut and shut with it Jeff I had a 134 grill that I cut down and the sunvisor and wheels were kit bits and the rest is Plasticard. The worst bit with the fire engines was the ladders trying to get the scale right and still keep some strength in them as they tend to try and warp a bit. But all good fun as they say. Eddie.

Jeff…

Very nice Jeff, I do like the way you take them pics mate! But where’s the sunshine gone ■■?

Regards Jimski

I squirt everything with the garden hose, and get my wife to stand over it with a golf umbrella. lol…
It did rain here once, we talked about it for years…

That tilt trailer was a salvage job from the fire. The whole B Coole Daf and fridge wasn’t affected by the fire, but it did get destroyed when a kangaroo jumped on it at the first photo shoot. So all in all I’m fairly happy they are still about.

I’m pretty sure I do have a photo of a Milton Pipes Scania somewhere. I’d like to see the fleet photo if you could post it up. A177 ■■■ was a 142, soon to be followed by B249 XOO, another identical 142. Very nice they looked too!.

Dad drove B246 XOO to after A177 ■■■ think Ron wood bought that seen D323 ■■■ At chatham dock yard a couple of years ago remember that ?

I had A178 ■■■, a 142 intercooler 6x2 tag, it came from Priors the M/E people.

I’m sure A177 ■■■ was a flat front R112 4x2 and was first owned by Falcon Roadways.

Have you tried the ‘Kent transport’ thread? I’m sure there are Milton Pipes lorries on there, even if they are only subbies… Robert

Here’s the Daf after a kangaroo jumped on it, so I was more than happy that I managed to get it back together in some kind of reasonable way.
It happened when I took it to a pine plantation in the southern forests for a photo shoot early one morning. The wreckage was spread over a fairly large area on a gravel road, and what was most surprising was that I managed to fine most of the pieces.

That is the best ‘the dog ate my homework’ type excuse ever

When I was in America land and Canada I spent some time driving the full scale version of this, I took plenty of photos of it in various locations across North America and near the end of the trip I Fed-xed all my stuff, including Photos back to Britain, that was the last time I ever saw them.
I built this model based on my memories. It’s not exact, but close enough.

Jeff…

Very good Jeff ! Nice truck, I know your sort  you get all the good jobs !!
