MODEL TRUCKS

love sponge:
morning all,i am trying to strip down a corgi tractor unit and wsi trailer,i was told to use nail varnish remover to get rid of signwriting but it doesnt seem to do anything, any suggestions please also ive put wrong colour paint on so need to strip that off aswell any tips please, thanks in advance

If all else fails, try nitromorse in a well ventilated place

Don’t get it on any plastic parts though or clear glazing! I used to use old Brake fluid as it doesn’t hurt any non metal parts, just got to give everything a good soapy wash afterwards. The writing on plastic trailer sides is a pain to remove due to the printing process they use and sometimes easier to rub with very fine wet n dry especially if its going to be re primed before a top coat, difficult if any detail needs to be saved. I’m busy with three rebuilds but won’t do anymore after these, too much hassle, much easier to build with plastic. Franky.

hi mate,

for total repaints, i always strip the model to its component parts then dunk the metal cab & metal parts in a large mug of thinners for 24hrs, that normally works for me, but if just taking the sign writing of i (99%) of the time use nail polish remover but it has to be the acitone free type.

this is a request for help. i am trying to locate a 1.24 kit for a very important project, and am coming up against a brick wall. i need to find a kit or kits for A E C ergomatic cab or mandator. or an Atkinson. or even old Mercedes 1418 or 1924. if anyone has any ideas on how i can either purchase or re model an existing kit,i would be very gratefull. the cost is not important, within reason thank you terry.

Can any one help please , looking for some one to paint and supply a few model trucks , (the closest model available to a vehicle we have ran and are available would be the Beford tk pickfords ) , must be livered in our style , any one help please ■■?

Jakey, pm Benni. He’s very good.

Reference the models Top Cat Leek is interested in, the AEC is no longer available from the maker Kingdom Trucks but someone might have an unbuilt one, there were plenty sold but only some of those have appeared built. The Atkinson also may not be available from KFS, he has cut down recently on the list and stock of classic Transkits and the Borderer may have had its last casting run. Again a modeller may have an unbuilt one he’s willing to sell. You can check what’s available from KFS on his site and a word on the Truck Model World Forum might find you a seller, probably your only chance now.

Jakey was looking for TK models, KFS does do a 1/24 scale full kit of the TK but expect to pay over £100.00, smaller scale 1/50 Corgi models may be available and even smaller 1/76 (OO Gauge Railway size) from several makers, Base Models now called B-T Models, Oxford Diecast and others, a look at the many Railway sites will list commercial vehicles available. As above a word on the Truck Model World Forum might find you a willing modeller to build and paint these but again expect to pay they don’t give their services cheaply. Hope this helps, Franky.

I’ve been using my time off over the holidays to finish off some models I’ve had on the go for too long. Heres the first one. Its a fictional South Wales truck chopped about from Italeri and Revell plastic kits.
Neil.

Nice job Neil looks good, all the best to you and yours for 2013. Hope to catch you on the show circuit somewhere.

cheers
John.

Hi all,

Here is my latest model lorry build its 1/24th scale:

Its a Guy Big J 8 wheel bulk blower/tipper coal lorry, based on a real lorry once operated by the Wulfruna Coal Company.

The cab, chassis and body are all scratchbuilt, the wheels, fuel tank, diff’s, air tanks etc are all cast in resin by myself:

It took me around 1 month to build from start to finish.

A photo of the real thing can be found here:

Hi Eddie, happy new year to you my friend, hope you are well.

Thanks very much for your kind comments mate, coming from an expert modeller such as yourself I am honoured! It was good fun building this, Guy lorries were always very handsome I reckon.
