I have often thought it a good idea tossing a dummy hand grenade in through the window to see how quick the Tw*t operating the camera could exit the van , It would look good on you-tube ha ha
Was it definitely a speed camera van? I thought all speed camera vans had to be marked as police vehicles. I know the DVLA (or other) use white vans to check for tax etc. via ANPR.
There is a plain white transit with amber lights on and a silver transit style motorhome kicking around east yorkshire

you have those doing 46 or less and stay in the middle lane, all the way, even when the left lane is empty, blocking everybody else.
If the left lane is empty use it for it’s intended purpose and drive at the posted limit in the correct lane…not your fault someone wants to go slow and lacks lane discipline

That just means they were quick at sending it out! It must have changed because it was 6 months
My Dad is a retired Policeman, he’s always told me it’s 14 days to send out the NIP, like MickyBlue states. If it was 6 months, you’d have people who should have 12 (and a totting-up ban) running around unprosecuted!

Just hang a CD in your windscreen and you’ll be fine at any speed.

I got done on the A5 in Llangollen by a camera van 35mph in a 30mph limit. At the time five years ago there was zero tolerance in the North Wales police area.
That is more than the 10% though Dave, you would get done without the zero for that

As I understand it,
Private car registered to you, NIP to be sent within 14 days.
Company/leased vehicle/someone else’s car, NIP to be sent to the registered keeper within 14 days, no time limit on subsequent NIP’s.
NIP issued by an officer at the roadside, 6 months.
i knew there was a 6 months somewhere!
When you get a NIP it doesn’t mean your done, it means you have been reported for the consideration for prosecution. HTH
