Mobile Phones

My old pay as you go mobile is broken but I have
over £15 credit still and want to keep the number
also. If I buy a sim free phone can I put my sim
straight in to the new phone and will it work. Also
whats with these sim free phones saying they have
a sim card in the box?

Thinking of something like This Phone

It should be ok , i recently bought a vodafone payg phone and used my existing vodafone sim card, best to either get a payg from network you are currently using or as you say a sim free one.The ones that come with a sim card will have a new number and are obviously aimed at getting people connected to that particular network hope this helps .Mike

i just bought a sim free phone in Poland, as you do. I put my T-Mobile sim in and no problems, well that is the idea of a sim free phone I guess. I work in different countries so swap sim cards around a bit. My T Mobile phone is locked to that network as is my old Orange phone. My main reason for doing this, while to T Mobile plan I have is great they did not have the mobile I wanted at the time, so I found that mobile, bought it sim free and can use it anywhere with what ever sim card I need, Telia in DK and Era in PL.

Downside: the free free phone costs the real price of the phone and if the phone breaks then sorting that out is up to you rather than popping down the local orange store.

The other option is to have your current mobile unlocked by the network you are on for a small price and you can use any sim card, not aim at you as yours is broken, but you know what I mean
