Mobile phone networks.

o2 works for me…why use the monkey when you can be direct with the organ grinder.

same for tinterweb at home.
i ddnt use bt because i never have any wish to speak to someone from pakistan,so i used vodaphone where a wee northern irish dude signed me up,and then the day i got connected a bt van was outside the door telling me that vodaphone piggyback off of bt,so back to square one there…

You wouldn’t be dealing with the organ grinder if you went with BT. Openreach limited (the part of BT Group that operate and maintain the network) was separated off from BT plc (the retail phone/broadband supplier) a few years ago, so they now have the same sort of operational relationship as Openreach does with any other retail phone provider (even though they are ultimately owned by the same holding company).

I think the same applies on your side of the water.

its difficult to know who your going to be talking to before you hookup with them.
with sy,your talking mostly to someone who lives within working distance of livingston where their bas ie and take your chance as to what they sound like.
i just have nothing to do with anywhere that has a asian call centre.

with paypal, you call the north east of england,if they are swamped, you get bounced to dublin,if they are swamped you get bounced to manilla ir somewhere which at that point its just best to hangup and redial and save the grief…

£5 per month for unlimited standard calls and texts. Reserve 2GB of data for £2 but get that back pro-rata, ie. if you use 0.5GB of data in the month, you get £1.50 back.

smarty works on the three network.

We currently have a problem (no service) with our Sky Fibre phone/broadband service. I have already spoken with a very nice sounding (as in “I would” - based entirely on the sound of her voice/way she spoke) Irish lady. She can’t actually help any more than someone in a Far East call centre could, because she is totally reliant on what OpenWound tell her.

Same SIM-only deal available from O2 for £20 (as indeed it is from EE…)

i use Virgin mobile sim only £9.21 month unlimited calls texts and think its 6mbs of data. Never had a problem with them, they use EE network but i believe they going over to vodphone soon…so i have to see whats that like

When I first had a phone in 97 the bill was £300 to £400 per month :open_mouth: it’s now £70 although if I ring Ireland a bit it’s £140 odd  had same number 20 yrs now  and still use the good old C2 01 it’s untraceable apparently

wernt you lucky.

forums.digitalspy.com/discussio … all-centre

it used to be with the call centre in livingston then you were gambling on speaking to someone living between edinburgh and glasgow.
whether they can assist you or not, makes no odds to me.
what does help me is removing most of the gamble of who is likely to answer a phone before me dialling it.

for example.

if you use the ferries and call p&o,
then you most likely talk to someone who lives in or around kent.

if you call stena,
then after going through about 8 menus of listening to a plummy sounding english voice who could be reading the news ,you invariably get transferred onto a flipflop in riga or somewhere similar who can only work from the script on the screen.

with the rac and for the 25 years when i used visa credit card is the same…always a plummy newsreader voice till you speak to a human, then you take your chance, which for me equates to ,just hang up the phone and redial.

as far as mobiles go,then 1 mans meat is anothers poison, but at the end of the day if most of us are making decent wages from whatever source, then who cares about a few quid per month anyway?
with few exeptions, all the providers are similar to all the subbies,as in the rates cut to death so that someone else dont get your money.

peirre:
Another consideration for choice is which network do your family members use, especially those who you call frequently, as some networks give discounted or free calls between customers using the same network depending on the call plan

Not much point really when almost all of them now give unlimited (or near enough unlimited) “free” calls and texts regardless of who/what network the other phone is on.

These days the main reason for keeping the family on the same network is to allow you to “share” your data allowance with others (of course, the provider gains from this as they effectively “tie in” the whole family to one network).

I’m with O2 and pretty happy.

I got my contract through Carphone warehouse, then switched to a O2 sim only plan.

Tesco and Giff Gaff use the O2 network from memory too.

I use voxi quite good and owned by vodaphone

Am with EE for 10 years now any problems i walk into the shop and everything is sorted straight away.

20 british pounds per month on giff gaff give you unlimited texts and calls plus 80gb data.

Plenty for pornhub and other various ■■■ sites you need to venture. Although sky go and netflix are also good.

does O2 still exist ? )

Yes it’s EE.

EE was the merger of Orange and T-Mobile (one to one)

Tesco sim only is £7.50 per month and I never put it down
