Mobile gyms at truck parking

Would any drivers use a mobile gym.Possibly in back of a converted trailer, with generator for power supply.Cardio-vascular fitness training equipment.Weights.Etc.Would`nt get planning from UK gestapo,at a MSA.Buy a corner of a farmers field near to where trucks park.Special rates for truckers,to prevent a myocardial infraction(heart attack)and diabetes, strokes, stress, obesity, etc. They have a mobile churches, complete with priest in the USA for drivers,as in the ex-pat thread,on Canada to Florida.Bet everyone would use a mobile pole and lap dancing venue.Queue round the block.Take visa cards. :unamused:

Business opportunity there

Not likely, sounds like work.

I’d use a gym at truckstops if there was any but since we struggle to take a crap and get a shower in clean surroundings it’ll never happen.

Reckon you could even get a grant to set it up.
However most gyms have an assesment for their clients to guage thier level of fitness and tailor the training to suit. This might be a problem with people coming in on an ad hoc basis. you’d also need to supply changing rooms and showers all at a cost that is suitable for a driver to pay.

good idea but by the time i managed to get onto the trailer my 45 would be up (unless you have an escalator fitted  )

Its a cracking idea bud, I’ve thought for a long time that msa’s should have gyms for us drivers to use and i for one wouldbe a regular.

I’d love somewhere proper to do my physio! Great idea! :bulb:

Me too Harry, Ive been reading some of Tims posts with interest, seems he has an obbsesion with keeping fit, swimming pools in the docks in france, 15km, sorry make that 15 MILE :open_mouth: :open_mouth: bike rides when parked up for the weekend!!! :open_mouth: :open_mouth: now mobile gyms near truck stops in the corners of various fields!!

Tim, were you a PTI on the RAF or something?? …learn to relax a bit mate, chill out with a few beers and a couple of chilled bottles of Frizz!!..stuff all that running around getting sweaty and knackerd!!

I used to work with one former military guy who, if he couldnt get out for a run for a few days would actually get quite aggressive…it`s like a drug to some people!!..suppose like alcohol is to me!!! :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

This Jim bloke. I think I did the middle east with him

Nice idea but cant see it working, can you imagine the condition of the equipment after a couple of months of driver abuse? And blokes on the treadmills wearing grease covered hi viz vests

No more posts please, as my eyes are tired reading and my finger’s knackered scrolling. Thank You.

the weight limit would be a problem  :stuck_out_tongue: IMO if you think its a good idea you most be a tad overweight and if i am not right the machines have a weight limit on them :stuck_out_tongue:   and just something else for a driver to do i thought all drivers don’t like physical work   But if you do get one up and running there better be a shower as the smell would be interesting

i had the same thoughts years ago when i was tramping and cramming the gym in on a weekend. being a young fit dude, i didn’t / don’t want the classic trucker figure! if i was parked up were i could get a shower i’d usually go for a 30 - 45 min run. all msa’s + truckstops should have gyms, they’d proberly get grants. free if you’re paying parking, cheap if you not. if nighting out i’d defo use them.

stevie

I’d use it.

My mate Bob, who I regularly run with, and myself both often carry some exercise stuff in our cabs, kettlebells, dumbbells, resistance bands, abs wheels - small stuff which is easy to carry. Use it while parked up at the German depot or in the cabin on the ferry crossing while on the Irish run. You can do a fair bit with just a couple of bits of basic equipment.

Jammymuts brother runs a gym or something like that  maybe we could see how much it is for membership. Jammy might be able to get you a discount   :sunglasses:

Tim, I’m assuming you would be moving about to different locations given it’s a mobile gym, and then advertise in advance to where you would be parked each week. Or were you planning to site in one location to start off with to see what kind of response you would get ?

Thanks lads and lasses.Good feedback.Yes,was ex forces.Maybe health and safety bods will require us to use hard hat, safety goggles, gloves,hi viz and flashing orange lights to use the gym equipment. Why does Barbezieux truckstop in France sell blue light beacons for 20 euro.Is that legal.Flashing blue for a truck or car.
