Not the same weekend though, :unamused: …but the following year.

Gardner 150 DB 6 speed

The late Freddie Wolstenholme takes time out for a picture with Tom Ridings eldest daughter Elizabeth in front of Atkinson Mk II 4x2 tractor unit Reg No ETF 510J Fleet No 77 one Sunday morning at Padiham in 1971.
Unfortunately Freddie Wolstenholme was tragically killed in a road traffic accident four years later.

Hiya,
Went from one like this to an older single headlight job but with a 220 ■■■■■■■
what a difference the ■■■■■■■ flew and pulled like a Trojan but it couldn’t half
drink diesel one hell of a motor for that time not much could live with it.
thanks harry, long retired.

Hi, Having just logged onto this site, not been on for ages, I can’t believe 33 pages of Atki’s and not one photo or pic of a David Hall and Son of Bury.

Soon put that right

Thanks for the pics Moomooland. Spent some happy times at David’s. If you could get up in a morning you could earn good money. Then the union came in and cocked it all up. Didn’t take David long to unload it to Nuttauls, then Renwicks finally ended the firm. When a transport manager like Eric Finnerty can’t save the firm then it’s time to go awol.

Nice one moomooland you always come up trumps , thank you Trevor .

In for restoration,I wonder how long it will be before we see this out and about again?

Does any one have any tips on how to make sure you get the KF D85 oil seal to seal? I am told I need a tool to get the seal into place and that they are prone to leaking.

thanks there were times I wished I hadn’t started !!

This is how it was when I bought it from taberns 2007

as mentioned in another thread i had my first ride in a borderer aged about 5 my dads k1050 dodge was in for mot so one of the fitters dropped us off during his test drive in a ■■■■■■■ powered atki {it defo wasn’t gardner powered too slow } i remember sitting on the bonnet as john peet went like stink trying to impress us . Did work on me dad who on getting out said i take it you’re filling it up and getting new tyres on the back before you take it back you clever ■■■■ but I was hooked and always wanted one after that cheers jamie

You are to be well congratulated for the fine refurbishment of the Tabern Atkinson Atkiman, how I wish that this Bewick Borderer could have re-appeared on the preservation scene, for it’s cost and it’s spec most definitely made one of the finest Atky’s built, although it was a bit beyond the skill of many drivers those that could handle it could make it “talk” and forget about the Foden 12 speed, this baby had 20 usable gears, it just kept on tramping on the M/Way grades, small staeps and many of 'em ! Cheers Dennis.
