Anyone out there remember El Cid, think he used to drive for MJM. Always did Spain back in the 80’s. He never missed the Archers on the radio… and parked up with a brew on the listen to it. What a character. I first met him in Badajoz as we were loading the same place, charcoal as I remember. His load shifted quite badly going over Pamplona as I recall, but he insisted I carried on to catch the boat then at least part of the consignment arrived on time. Love to know what became of him, his real name was Simon i think but everyone knew him as Sid.
Yes, I knew Sid well , last I heard of him he lived near Heathrow and was driving a truck and drag out of Heathrow, he was on MJM the same time as Ronnie who when I last saw him was driving for Birds
Edit to add , the last time I saw him was in Venice when we were both doing ships stores to the Cunard Princess , him for MJM ,me for GBE, I have a photo of both of our trucks together next to the CP but havnt a clue how to post them.
