Mixers

Heres my mixers from the mid nineties, i’m still traumatised from the “iveco experience”. kevmac4721 :0

Hi Kevmac, I drove L641EKP for a spell down here in South Wales and it struggled to pull out from under the batching plant everytime!.In the end it was put in to Bown Trucks and they changed or uprated the timing or pump and it was a different wagon, much more power> Ian

Did anyone drive Ford Cargo mixers? RMC ODs used them (Kidlington until fairly recently), but you didn’t want to be behind them when they were carrying 6m2  Stop the drum and you might break the speed limit

Where is that bloke with no brakes?

He didn’t stop long :stuck_out_tongue:

Here you go:

I’ve had that pic for a while in my collection, though I didn’t take it. Most Cargo mixers had the aircooled Deutz F6L 204bhp lump in them. Very lightweight and a reliable performer, but somewhat underpowered for 6-wheeler operations as you say. . .

Great topic Muckaway, and you’re dead right, they are often over looked and there’s some really smart mixers out there.

My good friend Paul runs this mixer for Cemex. He lives and breathes trucks, a really top bloke!

Thanks for looking.

Cheers

Simon

Hello Yanto, I never had any problems due to lack of power but I can understand it would be a problem in your area of operation,(even the sheep need a crawler gear on some of your hills!! ) I once had the engine run backwards when a semi dry mix stuck in the drum when on a very slow discharge. The weight of the load pulled the drum backover when it reached the top of its cycle, this caused the engine to stall and then restart exhausting through the air intake :open_mouth: :open_mouth: Of couse Iveco denied that it could happen (they were very good at denial) I suppose they had to be good at something? I did hear later that it wasn’t as uncommon as they would have us believe. regards kevmac47.

Used to happen quite a lot on my 2421 Constructor whilst running out semi dry, engine would run backwards if it stalled on the wrong cycle with the drum, black smoke out of the air intake, not the best!

And something slightly different…

Was that cab pinched from a crop sprayer?

Something like that – he couldn’t remember exactly where he got the cab from - it’s been like that for a fair few years!

I thought it was the new Renault Magnum

Clearly the blind-spot mirror isn’t much use, he’s not spotted that someone has nicked his front bumper to weigh in for scrap!
