Mixed Weeks Work

Well folks, the week started at 0330hrs on the yard
as i was rideingwith a worksmate down to Aniwerpen,
Where I had parked my lorry up for the weekend,
apart from just a little traffic -jam we got to the Bayer
lory park at 0810hrs, HERE I transferred my kit
to my lorry and did a check makeing sure that
all the container lids, and valves where closed
before moveing off,Ihad to go through the TÖLL
tunnel to get to the Haven 1313 where I was to unload,
YES its the same place as last week and as luck
would have it also a first time drop and inuse of the
point so I was in for a 4-6 min unloading,
after arriveing at the storeage
plant i did the entrance paper work,
Here is where many firms
could take a few lessons, as the security staff
treat you like a human being unless you
decide to upset them, also not speaking
Flemish or French was no problem as the
all spoke good english,
after filling in the paperwork which is
avalible in at least 10languages ,
I went over to the dispatch office,
here again most of the workers
have at least 4-6 languages and
this means not many problems
when they get vehicles into load,
,I got sent in straight away and
way weighed and sample taken
inside 30 mins, They sent me ove
r to wait by the unloading point,
and 40mins later started to
unload, this took a total of5hrs,
and then it was off to the Hoyer
Tankwash in Erkelen, and a
vacum test
Here for those who are intrested
a Vacum test shows weither you
unloading valves are okay and not
liable to leak, this is used by many
firms nowadays as the results of a leaking
valve can be very expensive,
After the cleanout, i left for
Rotterdamm, as I had time I decided
to try and use another route I ended
up going along a nice country road
stretch ,
and got to one of the truckstop
parking areas in the Rotterdamm docks,
Here I had my 11plus off and drove
over to load around 0700hrs in the
morning, The loading did not take too long
and when I was finished, I set off via all the
nice diversions which one has to use when carrying
certain Hazerdous chemicals//gases,
I got back to the unloading point
in the afternoon and had hoped to have a lazy day
What a mistake, as they called me over to
unload straight away instead of
waiting for Wenseday,My luck
was in and i was in and finished
inside two hours,So now my office said
report to the yard office for 0830hrs tomorrow,
I shot ofF to the Truckstop at STARBROK
and had my 11hrs off, This stop is all ways
chocker block and has a good reputation
for the food and beer,
i got back to the yard on Wenseday
and it was all change yet again,Now
I was to pick up a trailer with 4 paper
rolls on it with a weight of 23tn
for deliver in the Black forest by
Freundenstadt, I had some time left and
set off hopeing to get down by Karlsruhe
which I did not achive on the A45 heading
away from Hagen I had two traffic jams by
the first one I took one of the little diversions(U21)
which take you via side roads down to the next
exit–entrance of the motorway, When the 2nd jam
was meet I took a break of 1hour and then
carried on and got as far as LORSCH;
Thursday set off at0700hrs and went via
the BAB down to the exit for Gaggenau
went past the UNI-MOG musem
and went on through the lovely countryside
to Freundenstadt,The unloading of the 4
paper rolls took less time than it did to
book in at the dispatch office,My reload was
at EPPLEBORN by SARRBRUCKEN;
afer haveing a look at the map I opted
for the following route ,across to
Kehl and through France as it was
the shorter route and total maut free
until I crossed back over into germany
The route is one that can be done loaded
as well, and the roads were good and
the traffic was very light, until I entered
germany again by pirmasans, where the germans have turned a old USA camp into excellent
tradeing estate,Igot to the reload point and
was in and out inside 1hour , the load is 33
pallets of a product that we delivered to them
inliquid form and was then processed and dryed
plus packed by the factory,AS we all know fuel is
expensive €1:55 AT present in Germany
and in LUX it only costs €1.30,so off i went heading for the yard via a visit to Esso at Wasserbillig
where I filled up with fuel and ciggies at €28
for 200,I took my rest at the first parking
after the border ,and set off in the morning
via the country roads and the motorway
back to the yard, as was normal along this route
every one seems to be in a hurry and somehow
sem to be doing well over 60kmh, still it was early morning and the nice enforcement force were all in bed,I dropped the trailer off in the yard and
now had a chemical container ,ALL i had to do
was pre-load two products for early delivery
in a factory just outside LYON (F),
DUE to the long loading time i ended up
working until 1900hrs, BUT the nice thing
is I have off until Tuesday , just have to phone in
at 1700hrs Monday,
Right folks still not got a camera and hope that you were not bored to tears,

Great diary brit pete, but it is lacking in pictures as you said.

Try looking HERE for a camera.

Good diary pete, when you get a pic of your truck on here then I’ll know what to look out for, then we can stop for a coffee somewhere.
