I think you were a little quick to introduce that rather sour note to a thread in which you have found nothing but sympathy.
Nobody made ‘negative comments’, Gus merely pointed us in the direction of facts that we did not have and Rob commented that after reading the media report there was more to this than had been posted. Indeed he finished by expressing the hope that Mark would be found safe and well.
Despite Rob’s, and others’ in this community, experiences of innocent until proved guilty or not, I do adhere to that principle and will keep my eyes open in my local area here in SW France.

The circumstances or reasons behind this dissappearence are of no concern to me but if it was a member of my family I would at least like to know they were alive and safe and I think that is all we are being asked to do. The original post was made as a plea for help from lorry drivers in the UK and Europe, we could at least keep to that or dont bother posting a reply!

If there is one thing I have discovered first hand, that is the press will take any story they can and twist it to make it more “Readable” and Interesting to their readers.
The Evening Chronicle gave a fair coverage of my Employment Tribunal case last year, but still ommitted a number of important facts that the public should of been aware of to make their own minds up.
I was still branded an Evil boss for sacking my Pregnant Sister, yet they failed to point out that I had only known of her pregnancy for 1 day, yet printed that I had refused her time off for doctors appointments etc, even the tribunal accepted we could not have known in that short space of time. I’ve realised now that you cannot base an opinion on what you read in the press, there are 2 sides to every story and the press only want the side that makes interesting reading, so good luck finding him, after all, who are we to pass judgement?
I agree with RobK. I couldn’t give a [zb] about anyone who mis-treats animals, but, I hope that he is found so that he can face his punishment through the courts as running away doesn’t solve anything.

i wanted to retaliate to some of the misguide views that have been posted but this would only result in this post being removed or locked, A person is inocent until proven guilty by those who have judged him or her,by law .but if the daily rag prints something then its all above board ,stop degrading what
people are trying to sort out ,and give the truth a chance to be found out, after this missing person is found,as his nearest &dearest are are trying to do,

You are harsh judge, we don’t the full facts, and papers are notoriously famous for printing only the facts that make a good story and in some cases adding extra “facts” to beef it up and organisations like the RSPCA can be over zealous in their work, some inspectors get a uniform complex.
I know of a horse owner who put their old horse out to grass. It was old and had some medical problems so it always looked thin and underfed, but the vet was happy that the animal was basically okay just old.
It was reported to the RSPCA by some “well meaning” citizen; the inspector turned up and said it was neglected, so after taking legal advice the owners put the horse down as even if they won the case it would still ruin their reputation.
I hope you find Mark and he’s okay and comes back to those who hold him dear.

Already guilty then 
I (like everyone else) on this forum can’t know if this guy is innocent or not, and as we are neither Judge or Jury in this matter should not pass judgement…Someone has come to us for help, no matter what the circumstances, we are in a position better than most to give that help.
I will certainly keep my eyes peeled and if I see him, will be happy to pass on this info to the police as they have asked.
Lets all hope that this guy is alright an safely returned to his family asap
as has been said i live and work down here in the auvergne region of france and work for a large haulier and spend a lot of time down south and pass through the ardech on the way.
i am not prepared to get in to the politics of this but am prepared to help.
if you get a poster translated and send me a hard copy i will get it put around in the service areas down south and in our depots.

i live in the north east i have friends who are farmers some of the land is not great through hevy industry and mining
this person came to us for help not our judgement
judgement should beleft to the people with all the fact and both sides of a storey not a forum where we write thing when we havent met the person half of us havent met b4 when i met lib i was expecting somone taller and broder
a fact is we dont know this person but we should keep alook out

That’s good news, whatever the politics and legal stuff is doesn’t matter as long as he keeps in contact
