Minimum wage going up again in October

I see the NMW is going up again, this time by 20p to £6.70p yet I do not see this being carried over Pro Rata.
Class 2 is still £7.50 to £8.00 depending on where you live. Class 1 £8.00 to £9.00 again depending where you live.
I wouldn’t work for a agency, as they still pay the rates they’ve been paying for the last 10 years.

What’s the link between NMW and what people earn?

Down south it’s a bit more than that – £8 to £9 for class 2, £9 to £10 or a bit more for class 1. But you’re right, the wage doesn’t go up when the minimum wage does – when I used to do 7.5T work a lot, the average was £7-7.50/hr and that hadn’t gone up in 10yrs, as the van driver’s wage crept up. These days I don’t do 7.5T work unless it pays class 2 rates.

if you’re not happy with the rates in your area, go for a scaffolder’s labourer job at the local nuclear plant. 36hr/wk, £35k/pa. Quids in for doing ■■■■ all, loads of 18/19 year olds round here are are doing it!
