Even @ Class 2 this is shocking, plus it looks like you singlehandedly run the bloody place too,9am-7pm too…
Class 2 Driver and Loader indeed.co.uk/viewjob?from=ap … cef6a4eee3
£73 a day ,are they having a laugh, aggressive street beggars in Bath are on £23,000 a year .
That is a lot of duties for one man, where do you get a Wtd break in, then up to 10 drops a day , if you are delayed or broken down, what then .
Might as well be the Director and go out in a Bmw to business meetings , secure future contracts, sweep the yard, clean the loos on your 45 minute tacho break.
Why not be the security guard over night.
Almost identical hourly rate my 17 yr daughter earns working part time for the same supermarket I drive for .
Sounds more like they want a FLT driver with a C lisense. As after loading lorrys rather than sit about waiting for them to come back they will send you out to do a few drops. Pay is shocking though.
It is very low but for someone who can get a low wage topped up with benefits they could end up on more than someone on £10 or 12 per hour and that’s what companies rely on. If it’s to low the truck will be parked up but it won’t be.

In other words you and I pay the wages that should be paid by his employer.

Yes we do and companies know it, there was a supermarket in the news about 6 months ago and something like 2 thirds of the money they paid in tax went to there staff in benefits. Makes it hard for the ones who get nothing
My 18 year old earns more than that at McDonalds
But at least their website makes you feel ‘special’…
Barkley’s are that little bit special. If you are too we would love to hear from you. From time to time we need employees for all areas of our business.
That’s about the average net wage for class 1 in N Ireland.

Not per hour she won’t . Sorry or he .
Rest assured, some knob will do it.
It’s another example of it being the quality of the work not the wage.Replace that job description with class 2 distance bulk deliveries and collections or an 8 wheeler on bulk refuse it would then be a better job at that same rate of pay.Than even twice the amount of money for what’s on offer in the ad.
While ironically those examples of better work probably also being better paid in the real world.Which then results in the typical situation of dead mans shoes never advertised jobs v the advertised zb jobs.

Must have some kind of supervisory role then because my daughter has a few friends who work for them and they’re nowhere near that rate .

Indeed he does, he is a trainer and it shows that even burger flipping pays more than driving

Yep its a sad state of affairs I’m afraid.
I guess they may be aiming that sort of pay at someone young and new to the industry and probably still living at home with their parents. I know I took similar crap pay when I wanted to get myself through the door and some experience under my belt years ago… in fact, I ‘worked’ the first week for nothing just to get some experience and prove myself but I was still living with mum and dad at the time.
If you’ve a family and the usual commitments, it’s a pittance though.

More remarkable to me is that the role of burger-flipping trainer actually exists!
And we claim to have it hard when our trainers tell us we’re not doing it right when we eat curry and rice at the wheel with cruise control set. Somebody in McDonald’s is being told they aren’t flipping their burgers right.

To be fair, after I stopped laughing at him working there, I was impressed at the level of progression they offer all their employees. It really is a fast track company if you want a career in that sector.
Oh and the cheap food is just about worth the cost with employee discount
