Mini Coopers aware!

Yea I have the 325 drifter, it’s had a bit of a makeover this week

have you used it in anger yet?
i want to get myself an e30 325 sport later in the year if things go to plan.but they’re going for silly money now if they’re half decent.

Not full anger yet but Saturday  I’m gonna ring it’s sorry little neck.

E30s look great but e36s are ■■■■ cheap for a 325

ive got a proper mini

It’s close but personally I think all proper minis should have 10" wheels, I don’t think they look right with anything bigger.

Paul

I agree

I have owned 5 Minis, 4 originals and 1 made by BMW…if anyone thinks that the old ones were in anyway better than the new, then they know absolutely nothing about cars!

Missing the point a bit. Obviously the new ones are better built. They just aren’t cool! The classic mini is.

The old ones were more fun, cheaper and easier to maintain yourself.

Working in and around Oxford, where they are made, i see hundreds daily. Can anyone tell me why EVERY Mini is now called a cooper? Original Mini coopers were the original “hot Hatch” version of the standard mini, with more powerful engine, racing colours and were designed by John Cooper for rallying, such people as Paddy hopkirk, Timo Mäkinen and Pat moss drove them to victory in the monte carlo rally
Now you see mini Cooper diesels!!! and I’ve seen qutie a few of the new Cooper works cabriolet, It is Awful! the roof looks like something made by LEGO< the rear lights look like they forgot to put indicators on, so put a couple off an old Marina on with blue tack, the top half looks smaller than the bottom half, like they cut a standard mini in half and stuck the top bit onto a cut down countryman. And why the hell does a front wheel drive car need a rear spoiler to pop up when your doing 40 MPH■■?
No doubt there are 4 million hairdressers in europe already wet at the thought of paying over the top for one.

Not EVERY mini is a Cooper!

Not EVERY mini is a Cooper!

or even a Mini.

What the hell is that obnoxious looking thing with the split rear doors about?

I have had several Minis, from a 1962 floorbutton to a Mini Mayfair, the newer they got, the poorer the quality. As for the BMW. I would rather have a Smart Car, and I have had both.

The distinguishing difference between a Mini Cooper and a Mini was that the Cooper had twin fuel tanks

only cooper s’ had twin tanks i think.and always a white or black roof.

Well they must be joined by Honda drivers!iam sure they sign a form when the car is purchased to say i will drive like a ■■■■!!!

Wheel Nut:
They are driven by tools who cannot afford a proper BMW

That’ll be me then  :stuck_out_tongue:

Currently running a Cooper D, and a diamond of a car it is too. I’ve had several cars over the years, original Mini ( :exclamation: ), Mazda, BMW’s and Merc’s, in saloons, 4x4’s, coupes etc, and none of them come anywhere the fun factor of the modern Mini. It was the choice of the Mrs  and I wasn’t to sure at first, but once I’d been out in it a time or two I was hooked. The roadholding and handling is mind boggling, and the torque from that little diesel is something else. A perfect home from home truckers car, because of the torque no need to change down, just squeeze the throttle and your gone :sunglasses: its got a six speed gear box to so you can block change aswell :stuck_out_tongue:
As for labeling anyone who drives a Cooper as a tool  , well theres plenty of tools driving Scanias, but that been done in many another thread :grimacing:

for me and i feel many others it comes down to the name. it’s NOT a mini, never was, never will be. if bmw had called it something else i don’t think we would have a hatrid of it.

i wonder when they will bring the mayfair back?

:unamused: whatever.

The picture is crap, my camera tried to shut down because it is so ugly, but that was the BMC attempt at a replacement Mini. It was never put into production, but it was this Alec Issigonis idea which became the Metro and the Allegro.

BMC 9X is inside the museum at Gaydon

Bmc and bl to be fair did come up with some truly innovative designs and ideas over the years but did turn out some truly lame cars in there time.
I remember seeing some initial designs for the allegro and it was a real sleek design but bl management said it had to use the same heater as either a maxi or Marina and this meant a design change and totally ruined the design.
