Mini bus driver pleads guilty

Yes Carryfast inparticular had a lot to say on the matter but not a peep since the not guilty verdict on either topic. Maybe he’s been ■■■■■■■ with some other cases to solve…

You mean stuff to say like this.Maybe you’ve been a bit selective in the picking and choosing ‘everything I had to say’ on the matter. My position on the matter has always been innocent until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt. With the mini bus driver being the under the most suspicion.

As for the case if it had been me driving the truck I’d consider myself very lucky being that there is very rarely any defence against driving into something that is ‘established’ in lane crawling, stopped, broken down or crashed ahead.Regardless of how it got there. That was obviously the logic which the law was going by when they charged him. :bulb:

As it stands the verdict seems to send a questionable message that if someone drives into someone established ahead of them who is driving slowly or has stopped for whatever reason, regardless of circumstances, there will be no come back. When the obvious message from the law is ( arguably rightly ) don’t bet the farm on it. :unamused:

Well said carryfast

Yes I think he dodged a bullet on this, but then I said all along that He’d been charged with the wrong driving offence. A “due care” charge might have seen a successful prosecution. If indeed anyone thinks He bares some responsibility for the accident.

Hey what do I know

There was a fella on radio leeds the other day who hired the same bus and driver to take him and his mates to wembley to watch bradford city.
His story about how the driver acted and the condition of the bus was not good,
Sounded like an accident waiting to happen.

The jury could have convicted him for the lesser offence of (causing death by) careless driving, but cleared him of that as well.

I missed that bit, I’m surprised that it wasn’t just plain careless driving, maybe that “causing death” was felt by the Jury to be to harsh for his responsibility.

I can’t bring myself to click on the Mail article above so it may be included in there but there is some eye-opening info about both coach and driver in the bus industry trade magazine this week:

Wow, what a catalogue off disaster.

This paragraph sheds some light onto why the jury cleared Mr Ollerhead.

If the minibus had not been struck by Mr Ollerhead’s vehicle it would have been by another. It was an accident waiting to happen. The minibus was “a sitting duck”.

Thanks for posting that link.
