I took a delivery to a Manchester based import/export place the other week , there was a daf tractor unit sitting outside with the mattress getting a airing ■■ apparently the (ex) driver was a tramp . ( the words of the guy unloading me ) I would have said “incontinent” tramp !! I aint a snob but next doors moggy wouldn’t have had a crap on that matress.
I always try not to make a mess in the cabs I’m given. I’ve driven some sheds though.
Am on and off building sites every day.
And when its dry the dust soon builds up.
Tend to dust every few days. Sweep the same and polish dash up on fridays.
Its just trying to keep it clean with the dust.
Some cabs in our fleet are real bad. Once drew a smiley face on the inside of the pass side windscreen, was still there 12months later.
Come winter tis mud I hate. End up drying it out to sweep out twice daily.
Dont take long to keep a clean cab clean.
i’ve finally got my cab reasonably clean, despite the previous occupants efforts to make it look like a pig stye.
however what really gets me is the sticky worn out steering wheel!! its a three yr old daf cf.
doesnt matter how often i clean it,or what with, the outer covering has broken down and its always tacky and horrible.anyone got any ideas to help with this ? i really dont want a halfords style steering wheel cover lol.and a new wheel is out of the question!!

I can only assume this is a problem with DAF steering wheels, it’s the same with all ours that are more than a couple of years old. Outer covering all worn away, so they are pretty naff to hold.
Try taking a wet wipe to them, you’ll be horrified
Maybe a “nice” wood effect cover from somewhere like Lymm, Ã la Stobarts.

Please, no! Those things are hideous! The driver who says my cab is rough has one, complete with steering wheel knob and bird ■■■ window graphics.
For that stale sweat smell , Fabreeze is king.

I refused to drive another drivers unit earlier this week.
Mine was broken down and in the workshop, was given this other one to drive, but it was REALLY bad.I’ve done lots of agency work and dived in and out of a lot of peoples cabs, and never seen or smelt anything like this 1.
We do a chemical called Pyridine, and it stinks, he’d got that on his chemical and rigger gloves and put both in the cab - exchanging some of the chemical from the chemical gloves to the base of the drivers seat on their way to their ‘home’.
I felt like a Prima Donna, so I opened both windows and sunroof and went for a brew, came back, went for another brew, phone up and said ‘I ain’t driving that’, was told to go home.
Felt like a bit of a grass if I’m honest, really would rather not have made the call, but I really couldn’t have been in that unit for an hour, never mind 13 of them.
The driver was on holiday too, and knew I’d be using his unit, so it wasn’t like he was off sick or anything unplanned, he knew he was off for a few days and knew someone else would be using his unit, and left it in a right state
Don’t blame you at all for doing that. Pyridine is disgusting and the less I have to do with it the better, can’t even stand moving the fittings the smell gets to me that much. Not looking forward to when they send me to deliver it. Do you take it to syngenta?

Yeah, mainly, also to Simon Storage at Immingham
Earlier allergies were mentioned, a while back I came out with a rash over my arms, chest and thighs and this persisted for quite a number of weeks. My wife and I put it down to the amount of those crab sticks things I had taken a liking to so knocked eating them on the head, rash continued until I went away to work for a few weeks and the rash disappeared. Deduced I must have been allergic to the wife !! but found out later it was the Baby Oil we used in our ‘games’ that started if off. Changed the oil, not the wife or the games and it never came back
the above post is absolutely useless without pics !!
IM agency and cab hop everyday, iv stopped cleaning them now it was costing too much so now i sit on me cover thing iv got and wear surgical gloves and leav a note everyday saying left as found no more the fool and if it stinks just open windows full all day not arsed how i find them anymore f kin animals

Similar to you. Leave as I find. I was given a MAN with a dirty interior and when I left a few months later, it was returned as I found it.

You drive with surgical gloves on?
Before when I jumped between trucks I had ONE simple rule for my self. Always leave the truck fresher than how it was when I took it. The guys that drove them regular loved that and it payed of pretty fast getting to drive the best trucks in the fleet. Now when I have my own regular truck I clean it at least twice a day. It pays of fast. Instead of taking 30min it takes 2min and the truck is fresh all the time and really how the hell wants to sit in there own dirt all day, at least not me.

I’d rather have a longer break or go home a few minutes earlier.
