This is nothing new at this bridge - I used to live about 400yds from it and regularly had to take a diversion on my way home from work. There are two of the biggest steel protectors I have ever seen either side of the bridge as it gets hit that many times - and this started long before the general use of satnavs - just poor planning on the drivers part I’m afraid - plenty of signs and advance warning for this bridge.

went down and had a look as this truck as a mate of mine lives in the house right b4 the bridge. Had a great chuckle to my self as there is loads of warnings before it. Romsey is a pain in the arse for low bridges there is 3 within the town limits its self
