Very sad. I’m sure all on Trucknet and the whole transport community will wish to express our condolences to the family of the deceased…at this time.
My condolences go to the poor driver who may struggle with this on his conscience. Hopefully he gets all the help and support he needs.
I know we all moan about migrants etc etc etc but the sheer desperation these people (and let’s not forget these are just people) must be feeling to do this is very sad, very sad indeed.
Pity the driver. I don’t imagine the police will be very interested in chasing the “ones that got away” here. The only interested they’ll have in the number that got away - will be in calculating how many multiples of £2500 are involved I reckon.
We never get any follow-ups in the press regarding “What happens to the drivers in cases where illegal immigrants got away after being brought into Britain”…

What a drama queen.
I’ve little sympathy for the dead immigrant to be honest. My fear is that charges will be brought against the driver irrelevant of the fact that he might not have known he was there.

Glad I didn’t go to Sellindge today, I expect that with all the hoo ha around the airport cafe traffic for Lympne industrial estate was affected.

I think the type of desperation you refer to stops when they leave the country that they are suppossedly being persecuted from, to safety in the first port of call.
A different type of desperation comes about when they attempt to get to the UK…aka ’ The land of milk and honey’

Sounds right to me. They are “safe” at the moment they cross the border outbound - after that, they are just looking for the best possible package.

We should be deporting them with no £2k bribes not importing more
