Midlands To Dordrecht

I’ve drove class 1 for 6 Years in the UK and well up for a euro Run.
Now I know Experience is the Key in this but I need to try to Gain experience.

May be in the wrong section but has Anyone done this
Via the Eurotunnel on nights?
If so how did you find it?
I’m sure there are drivers on here who will state it’s a "piece of ■■■■"Run but for a Newbie over the water just keen to see what’s what.

Haven’t got the job but just putting it out there.
Experience wasn’t mentioned but maybe a experience chap may get it etc.

Cheers

Not done Euro for a few years now,but Dordrecht was easily done in a shift when I was heading around that way from the Midlands,as long as the crossings or Antwerp weren’t buggered. We mainly used the tub,but if the stinky express was running OK it was always my preferred option, just don’t get on the wrong bus when you get off  motorway all the way, keep an eye on the overtaking bans and speed limits if it’s raining and crack on.I’m sure there’s others with more recent experience that can advise on the tax setup, was vignette that I paid on fuel card when I was out there but pretty sure it’s changed now.

Just turn on your headlights and follow the Tunnel signs and youll find it easily enough. (sorry, couldnt resist)
.
Go for it.
Generally less traffic using the tunnel at nights so fewer trains run, but it is as easy as it gets. Bit tight getting onto the train, but do it slow and youll be fine. Mostly automated check in that is (almost) foolproof, although some do seem to stress test it. If you fancy it, try it, youll only regret it if you dont. If it isnt for you, then you will find that out, and stop wondering.

eurovignettes.eu/portal/booking/booking .That sorts you for Holland. Think it was 8 Euro a day when I did it last.

Belgium, you need a toll box on the windscreen. Im assuming the company has one registered to the vehicle you are using? If not its a bit of a faff. satellic.be/service-points . Thats where you can get one, they are like a cash point in some laybys or fuel stations. You need to scan documents like the lorry V5 and emissions, company VAT number. Then pay for the box on dkv iirc.

It plugs into the cig lighter. Need to have it on all times going through Belgium, it will use GPS to either charge you on the main roads or do nothing on side roads.

We have these in France certificat-air.gouv.fr/en/ but im pretty sure you don’t need it to get off at calais/dunkirk and head where you are going.

Your firm should look into this for you.

Make sure the light on the Belgian box is green. If its red stop and don’t go any further when in Belgium. I switch mine on at the EuroTunnel so its got plenty of time to register.
