A Middle East Overland Run “experience” will be held in conjunction with the Retro Truck Show at Gaydon Heritage Motor Centre on SATURDAY 13th SEPTEMBER 2014.
The “experience” will be a “ticket only” event. Tickets can be purchased direct from Gaydon. Just click on the link below.
Tickets are priced at £20 per person. This includes: entry to the Retro Truck Show and the Middle East Overland Run “experience”. There will be tea & coffee served during the morning and a two course lunch - including an Efes control (…we hope…) will also be included.
The event starts at 10am prompt and finishes around 3pm.
The event will consist of slide shows, cine film exerts, model display, and discussions with “old hands” and modern day drivers on how the job has evolved over the years. Some of the original Asian Transport/Astran drivers will be in attendance, along with other ex drivers from Grangewood, Oryx, PIE, OHS, Spiers & Hartwell and more…
STOP PRESS…we also hope to have the “original” AEC on display, which Asian Transport used in 1966 !!!
Come along for an authentic event and chat to some of the old hands.
Hi Great idea but why £20 for an already overpriced event with horrendous catering prices I see yours do include food but you must remember a lot of us are lorry drivers not media executives.
Have bought a ticket, just hope I can recognise some of the old drivers that undoubtedly will be there…
We’re not getting any younger…
All the very best

Cheers Rich
I agree with you Rich. I was trying my best at the meetings to get the price down…the £20 includes entry to the Retro Show & to the M/E experience. The Retro Show is £8 per adult on Saturday so the “experience” is £12 which includes tea & coffee on arrival and in the afternoon, plus a two course lunch. Not bad I suppose for 12 quid. You would probably spend more outside at the “snack wagons”. I’m not defending Gaydon, just justifying the price…
Personally I think it would have been better to charge separately for the “experience”…

Hi! Is it possible to buy the tickets in gaydon or only via mail before?
It sounds really interesting! Regard! Jörg
I would advise to buy tickets “online”. They are selling quickly and if you wait until the day, they may be sold out!
Go to Heritage Motor Centre website. Click on “SHOP”. Hover the mouse over “EVENT TICKETS”. Click on RETRO SHOW 2014 and scroll down to the bottom to see the event.
You will also need a separate ticket for Sunday, but if you prefer, you can buy this on the day at the entrance.

To order my ticket I just clicked on Ashley’s Heritage Motor link in his first post at the top of this page (blue writing). Robert
Is the Middle-East ticketed ‘experience’ just on the Saturday, or will it be repeated on the Sunday? Just interested, as I’m going for the whole weekend anyway. Robert
