Should revitalise Carryfast’s ambitions!
I’ll bet that stretch up across the Belen Pass is still of ‘national’ road standard and also down through Reyhanli; and again from Bab al Hawa to the Aleppo bypass.
Road through Belen looking pretty good these days
And Rehanliy Google Maps
Nice one Whispering!
Here’s the same road last time I took it:
And here’s the road over Belen pass opposite the little truckstop at Kici.

PS I removed that Uzun arac plate from my trailer after the French pulled me over for being Turkish
Used to drive an old 89 to Bahgdad in the early 80s
Nice pic! What year would that be Robert?
Early 2002, returning from Saudi Arabia. The little truckstop lokanti opposite was cheap and wonderful. It was high up on the Belen Pass. Happy New Year to you Dan!
Yes I worked for him I had an old 89 the White in the photo was driven by a bloke called black bob from Leyland.
I think the old 89 was mine.I drove for Duxbury from Lancashire.

Used to have a “teli keli mad” plate off a turkish tanker driver
(Hazardous)
Ah yes! TEHLiKiLi MADDE plates: dangerous stuffs. Turkish tankers all had them - probably still do!
Thanks man! Merry Christmas and happy new year to you to
Thank you. You too - and a Happy New Year!
I was pondering today, as old gits like me do when they’re crouched over a hot stew on a Monday morning.
Although tilts are no longer with us, they remain to this day the most versatile trailer you can get, especially on long-haul work. But I would argue that similarly, a 6x4 unit is the most versatile prime mover. The combination of both is formidable, if you want versatility.
If you park aside the issues of traction in snow, weight penalties etc, if you’ve got to run on 3 axles anyway, double-drive gives you maximum versatility. Especially if there are any off-road contruction sites involved.
versatile trailer and prime mover, love the description,
They had their moments specially if you had to strip one and rebuild it in the winter on your own
So handy now Curtain sliders and roof sliders and bars sliding the whole length of the trailer

Best of both worlds.
Wow yes! Now that’s what I call versatile. Thanks for that.
