Middle East and North Africa - Your Experiences Wanted

I’ve just been reading the posts on “Freight work. Personal longest distances■■?..” Wonderful stuff.

I’d love to collect some stories from you guys about runs to the middle east or north Africa. Photos would be good as well.

Have a trawl mate-- TNUK don’t charge for that (Oops, maybe they hadn’t thought of that  )

There’s pages and pages of stuff in this forum… Good hunting :exclamation:

Thanks for that, Dieseldave. I’ve already been trawling through and I’ve found some really fascinating stuff and links to great photo archives. I’d already found the first one. The second one was new to me and equally enjoyable.

What I’m hoping with this posting is to tease out even more memories and stories from the community that makes up the members of this forum.

So, if you’re an experienced overseas driver and you’ve got any tales to tell, please feel free to ramble on and on and …

This website is a fantastic resource for LGV drivers and wannabes like me. I can see that I’m going to be spending many hours glued to my computer from now on.

Best wishes to all,

You missed this one Dave.
That thread itself isn’t about trips, but it has links to quite a bit of info.

As to your desire to run over to the Middle East Shortfatbaldy.
Although it isn’t impossible, it’s very unlikely.
There are a very limited number of companies doing this type of work, as far as I know. Most of those are very specialised and unlikely to give an unknown quantity the keys to a load for that sort of trip.

There is a very small group of drivers doing one way trips.
They buy a truck, get a load for it, deliver the load to the ME and sell the truck. Then fly home and do it all again.

You need to do some serious research on this bit of your dream, if it’s going to stand a chance of happening at all, let alone within 2 years.

Hi Simon, I’d discounted that one TBH, because as you said, it not about trips.
I’d got the idea that Shortfatbaldy was looking for stories or diary type stuff, but I’m always prepared to be wrong…

To prove that I hadn’t missed it, you’ll see that I posted in it at the time  BTW, I’ve had many a PM with John ever since.

Thanks for the plug, Simon. Is there a way to get all the new, Middle East and N Africa stuff into one forum? (My cup runneth over) :unamused:
I have been viewing the klunk/■■■■■■■ gallery, to wit: s144.photobucket.com/albums/r182 … a/Daysons/
Imagining being there is re-growing the hair on top of my head.

Where is Hollywood? There are not just books here, but adventure flicks! You blokes may find this hard to believe, but we American truckers think we live interesting lives. Duh!
