Mid week shift changes

is there an H + S issue here?
working hours this week:
monday: 0500 - 1430
tuesday: 0500 - 1730
wednesday: 1000 - 1730
thursday: 1430 - 0230
friday: 1130 - 2200
saturday: 0700 - whenever

the area that i am concerned is the friday morning going to bed when 3 days earlier, i am getting up for work then saturday morning, i am back to starting as early as i legally can. a week like this is legal according to drivers hours but it doesnt half play with your body clock and sleep patterns.
is there an H + S issue with starting on an early shift, progressing to lates then going back to earlies within a 6 day period?

i personally wouldn’t do it, like you say it would really [zb] your body clock up.

granted your getting plenty of hours rest, its just killing your sleep patterns. recipe for disaster in my opinion

sounds like a fairly standard week to me

I don’t see any problem with it from a legal point of view. Depending what time you are finishing on the Saturday could have a bearing on how many consecutive weeks you could do this pattern. If you are finished by 11:00 -12:00 each Saturday you could do it every week. Later finishes on the Saturday make it harder to compensate for the reduced weekly rest and may need a longer weekly rest period to be taken on some weekends.

looks like a normal week for continental fridge work. But you would then work straight through from Saturday morning to Monday evening

i finished at half 3 and im starting again at 5 on monday. since this week is my rota weekend, i have friday/saturday/sunday off next week. this shift is not normal for us. most of us start between 4 and 7 every morning but this week they made a few mistakes and muggins here was shafted with covering their arses. the bit i really object to is taking a reduced rest at home because i have to commute both ways, eat, shower and all the rest of it within that time whereas on the road, you do all this near your wagon anyway. luckily, i live just up the road but some of the drivers are travelling half an hour each way. take that off and you are looking at 8 hours to eat, sleep etc. if only we had a competant government who would have seen this coming when they introduced these regs :unamused:
