I’m making a scale model of ERF A series 8 wheeler, but need pictures of the 4 under spring set on the back end, I can find plenty of the Reiver type set up used on B series, but nothing for A series, if anybody can help, it would be appreciated.
In truth the Eight Wheeler wasn’t an A Series, although this is often misunderstood as the same LV cab was used as on the A Series Tractor. The eight legger had the older chassis technology which was pre A Series and they were designated 6.8GXB180 or 6.8CU220, depending whether the Gardner 8LXB 180 or ■■■■■■■ 220 powered the vehicle.
Both having a plated weight of 30 Tons GVW. I haven’t got a pic of the double spring underslung suspension for the later ERF but this rear set up would have been similar, its seen here fitted to the ‘Sabrina’ model and will give you an idea of the layout.
