I’ve been quoted £950 to have a microwave fitted in a MAN tgx and wondered if anyone has tried running one off a 24v 240v inverter, the 24v microwaves are £465 +vat
one of these

will set you back just over £200 plus a cheap microwave from a supermarketr or online plus fitting . You can then run other appliances from the inverter . Some tablets / computers/ electronics can be a bit funny about Modified Sine wave (that linked to above ) and require Pure sine Wave to operated correctly but are 2 to 3 times the price .
If you are handy with the screwdrivers you should be able to make a reasonable saving .
3000w is way OTT. If you buy yourself a Daewoo QT1 compact microwave (£40 at asda.com) you only need a 1500w inverter maximum.

Basically, you need an inverter that’s capable of twice the wattage of the microwave. This is to cope with a surge when you first start the microwave.

As I suspect there’ll be a few searches done for it, do you have a URL link for this plz

Here you go.
Funny enough prior to posting I actually went to the asda direct website and searched for the device by name but it came back with out of stock & 4 near misses so no cigar.
direct.asda.com/daewoo-qt1-14l-6 … lt,pd.html
However ebuyer and Tesco direct have them at a higher price tesco.com/direct/daewoo-qt1- … rce=others

Well if you look at the power specs for the microwave that the rest of the guys are linking to it has a max power of 1000 wats . By your calculations you’ll need 2000 wat inverter ( not the 1500 watt you say is adequate )
Your always better with a bit of power in reserve rather than running inverters right at their limit .3000 wats will run the microwave comfortably and leave you a bit in reserve .

+1…biggest you can buy is always best…irrespctive of the brand lable, there all chineese crap and best take the power output with a pinch of salt…get one thats got balls like a spacehopper and itl cause the least greif.make sure both ends are screwed on tight .
There’s no reason to buy a 3kw inverter for a 600w microwave.

looked at that inverter site…and wondered what the difference is with Sine wave
or the ones without whatever theyre called.

The pure sine wave ones have less harmonic distortion and provide AC just like your plugs at home would, the modified sine waves don’t supply smooth AC and are noisier.
The modified ones work fine for Microwaves, TV’s, kettles and the like but they can be murder on your laptop, you need a pure sine wave for that. anything that has either microchips or hard drives/memory needs a pure sine.
