These fines wouldn’t have anything to do with self funding, or a way to raise revenue, as the government are skint,. Nooo it’s for road safety, silly me.
So you think it’s ok to breach the rules/laws? Keep it clean and you’ve got nothing to worry about.
Got booger all to do with keeping it clean, it’s to do with ALL government offices trying to get more money from the tax payer, as government is cutting there budgets so they can offer tax cuts to the voter, it’s a form of inderict taxation, all government depts are looking for new avenues to increase revenues, mod be charging troops for munitions soon.
It’s about time for God knows how long you can commit a offence in say france but the Spanish police will do you for it a week later so why not . As long as you pass vosa attitude test they will not do you for 1 minute. If anyone says they got done for one minute it’s probably because theres a load other offences tooif you run right youve got nowt to fear if you run bent then u deserve it

+1. Congratulations, we have a winner. Choose anything from the top shelf

The problem is: the fines are out of all proportion to the offence. We are working people and it is easy to milk us like cash cows. I am all for weeding out the undesirable elements in the industry, but they proliferate while a hard-working driver gets a £300 fine for spending his weekly rest in the cab in a lay-by. Why?
Because it is the 21st Century and it isn’t reasonable for an employer to have someone taking a weekly rest somewhere where there isn’t even access to a toilet, let alone hot water and a hot meal.
Things will not get any better.
They most certainly won’t when there’s people like you defending employers who won’t pay for parking leaving drivers resorting to ■■■■■■■■ in a carrier bag in a layby at the side of the road on their 45hr weekly break.
You keep harping on about “an employer”; who said anything about him?
I did nights out for 15 years and I enjoyed sleeping in quiet places. I carried plenty of water, tins and food from supermarkets – mainly because truckstops with decent food were/are few and far between; I also carried everything else I might have needed. I kept away from lorry parks and truckstops in the main because of the possibility of running into people like you: The “them and us” brigade!
If a driver has to park in lay-bys because of a penny-pinching employer then he, the employer, should be fined.
I have never “crapped in a carrier bag”.
You seem to have willfully misunderstood my post which was about the burgeoning bureaucracy and the army of driver trainers and associated ‘trades’. I think you’ll find it is people like you who are holding the industry back, with your “The working classes are hintirely hexploited” rhetoric. No wonder the Japanese ate us alive in the 70’s
Well, this is 99% for non-indigenous people, why not? if our indigenous can face similar penalties in other EU countries why should we not be any different? If our bosses will not pay for a reasonable hotel should they require you to be away from home for a 45hrs rest period or pay you accordingly then why do it? I would imagine the majority of companies who want their drivers to remain in the lorries, or those drivers who choose the stay in the cabs will continue to do so OFF grid without issues regardless of this tripe, and yes some do choose to dwell in cab they don’t have a fixed abode other than on paper

But I bet you were home on a weekend.

You only get fined for sleeping in a layby on your weekly rest. I don’t know of anyone who could go almost 2 full days without needing a dump.
