Mercedes Dash Light

Hi

Does anyone know what the red EDC Light on the dash Mercedes Atego is for, my lorry has been in the local garage and no one knows what it means.

Thanks

IT is a system which controls how the fuel is delivered

to each injector have a read of the link, all modern

vehicles have such a system fitted, BY the way have

you looked in your vehicles handbook it will be

described in this book as well, hope this helps

if you are still unsure go to the MERCEDES

WEB SITE ANS SEND THEM A E-MAIL

ASKING FOR A ANSWER;

HERE

EDC = Electronic Diesel Control  (On a Scania Anyway! )

It is the heart of the fuel system, it control everything to do with the engine and monitors lots of sensors

If its a red light this means take it to a garage ASAP or stop where you are and get help

Amber is a Warning, sort of you might like to think about diverting to a garage to get it checked out.

Would of thought its the same across the different manufacturers though.

What sort of garage are you taking it to that don’t know what a warning light is■■? :open_mouth:

Discopete it is thesame for all lorrys ,mate.

in all the atego’s I’ve seen the EDC light is red only (dash lamp with red lens not lcd panel) and it can come on for any of a number of sensor faults, usually ignored by drivers and fitters alike. You should be able to pull up the fault codes on the lcd panel which will tell you more (either from the handbook or by asking the service desk) FR & MR codes are the ones that apply if memory serves

Jules

Thanks for the help, found out, with the codes it was a broken sensor on the clutch pedal.

My amber EDC light came on in Germany this week, spent aday and a half chilling whilst Scania changed the engine sensor and the starter motor.

Apparently the starter motor bearing was kaput and somehow sheared the sensor, not that i was bothered good imbis over the road and got a free Scania winter jacket, wooly hat and a couple of lighters    :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:
