Ok. So. My lorry is a Mercedes benz arocs, and it has 2535 on the doors as a model number, ( i imagine ), but what does 2535 actually mean?

25t GVW
350 BHP
Ahhhhh cheers mate
F-reds:
25t GVW350 BHP
Not disputing the 350 bhp bit F-reds, but the 25 doesn’t denote weight. I think it’s to do with axle numbers or something like that. The one I drive is a 2545 but it’s a three axle unit plated for 44 tonne.
Edit to add; if anyone just witnessed a lorry driver hanging halfway out of his window shining a torch at his door to read the numbers on it I apologise for any upset I may have caused.
It will be plated at 44t gtw. The 25 refers to the gvw.
What about an 1845 two axle tractor unit then?
18t gvw but 40t gtw if you are pulling a tri axle trailer and 32t gtw (I think) if its a tandem trailer.
Bizarre, but I can kind of see the logic I suppose.
Forget the trailer Mao, you have to think like a rigid driver
Then all that German nonsense makes sense
The last two numbers, you just add a 0 and thats the horse power of the motor.
Mine is a 2551 so its 510 bhp, but 510 German bhp is equivalent to about 420 Swedish bhp.

What motorway were you on at the time ?
the first 2 digits (if 4 digits) or 1 (if 3 digits) denotes the design weight of the vehicle.
so a merc atego 817 would be a 8ton 170bhp truck, (most likely plated to 7.5ton)
and a merc actros 3545, would be a 35ton 450bhp truck.
MAN have a very similar system, e.g. TGX 26.440, design weight of 26 ton, 440 bhp.
I drive a 2530 and its a 26t gvw
