Our lot have got 40 of these coming this summer,450 streamspace [i think]the cab below the giga, anybody got one or driven one,ive heard they are really good on fuel but are gutless by lots of drivers, look nice inside when i looked in the demo we had but i never drove it…
The bigspace is the one below the giga. Streamspace is below bigspace. But you can get a streamspace with flat floor and full width cab, and you would be hard pushed to tell the difference between the two. They look very similar. They are gutless and good on fuel. The gearbox is pants. Far worse then the one in the old Actros! Apart from that, they are good trucks.
To be honest i dont give a rats arse what they are like,i wont get my bum in one

bit of a pointless thread then
I’d like to have a go in an MP4, I’ve never driven one. I like the ones like Advance Supply have for the Makro job (no idea what cab it is but its not the biggest one)

That’s the streamspace cab. The big and giga both have sunvisors. Some streamspace cabs have sunvisors and some don’t. On the ones that do, the cab top marker lights are incorporated into the sunvisor, whereas the big and giga have them on the cab. That’s how you can tell a streamspace from a bigspace.[emoji12]

Yes we have loads, as you said very good on fuel, lovely size cab, good on open roads but gearbox gets confused around town, a lot of ours get clouted on the front corners because it’s low so be wary around high curbs.Engine brake takes some getting used to but it’s good . As for being gutless keep the revs up .
Poorly made electronic problems, DOOR handles not working, 5th wheel needs replacing , new wiring looms the list goes on. 40 mph up windy hill pulling 20t and sh1* traction when on wet ground

Lift the mid lift then .

This is my main gripe with the actros - stick an extra tog duvet on the bunk and the bloody midlift goes down and won’t come up! Apart from that I love them, don’t have a problem with the gearbox (maybe just lucky with mine), and the cab is great for living in, especially with the flat floor.

You can lift the mid lift any time but will only work below about 17 mph give or take.

We’ve got the poverty spec ones - no auto headlights, rain sensor or even back and forth tilting drivers seat. Ours don’t come with the switch to lift the mid axle for manoevering whereas our 61 plates did. Makes me cringe when I’m jacknifing backwards onto a bay fully freighted and I see the tyre scrub happening.

Hell I thought our company were tight. Lifting the mid lift is dead handy for pulling away in the wet or like you said manoeuvring are you sure you ain’t got it fitted ? As for auto wipers they’re a pain because some work properly but a lot don’t and I’d rather not have them. And as for the driver’s seat that surprises me.
^^^ It’s a Gullivers thing tbh, they must’ve had a shed load of Bobby basic ones and offloaded them onto us. The last lot we got from them were top spec ones so I feel it’s more them than our bean counters speccing them that way. Hell, Gullivers even took all the brand new factory fit tyres off of the drive axles and replaced them with Ching Sen suicides before sending them out to us! It’s bitten them in the bum of course as we’re getting two or three a week where the sidewalls are going and taking mudguards and light clusters with them. Obviously we’re passing the cost straight back onto them.
