I took this pic while on holiday in Amelia,Italy.Although it’s a six wheel rigid (with steering rear axle) and the 350hp V8 version,it reminded me of the FIAT 170’s Trans UK used to run in the late 70’s.
I never got to have a 170 myself, but I did have the older 619 model.
I also remember Atkins of Derby ran a few 170’s,there was an LDD in TRUCK magazine.I’ve got it here somewhere…
This strange looking home grown truck was parked in the centre of Perugia.
And a few more to tickle your fancy!
A couple of scans of Marathons.
And a scan of Vebe-Trans from Sweden.
Unloading in Sirone,northern Italy.1992
And a Van Maanen truck in the colours of Gebr.Stroomberg.Nice livery.
Great stuff! love the Marathons, and I remember astbury haulage near cannock ran some of those fiats. Ever took all the nuts off a trilex wheel without slacking them and loosing it with a sledge first? Dont!
great pics kw like mal i liked the marthon very rarley scene nowadays even on the vintage scene
